To set up the tripod, first loosen the three leg adjusting clamps. Holding the top of the tripod, extend the tripod legs to the desired height (with the legs at equal lengths) and tighten the clamps on each leg to hold it in position (Fig.1).

If the LED dot is brighter than the alignment star, it may make it difficult to see the star. Turn the variable brightness control counterclockwise, until the red dot is the same brightness as the alignment star.
