Microwave leakage detector with audible
warning device and self-test feature
Designed and developed to comply with specification and
requirements of BSEN60335-2-90:1998, Safety of household and
similar electrical appliances - commercial microwave ovens.
Power density indicated at 1, 5 and 10mW. cm
exposure levels specified in NRPB-GS11, guidance as to the
restrictions on exposures to time varying electromagnetic fields and
the 1988 recommendations of the international non-ionising radiation
committee.
Calibrated over a wide, adjustment free operating temperature range.

Operating instructions
In use, hold the microwave leakage detector in the hand as shown
in figure 1.
Slide the switch across to the middle 'TEST' position and check that
the 'SYS' and 1,5 and 10mW. cm-2 power indicators are illuminated
and the audible tone is present.
Slide the switch across to the far right 'ON' position and check that
after approximately 2-3 seconds the power indicators extinguish,
the audible tone is de-activated and the green 'SYS' indicator is
illuminated. The microwave leakage detector is now calibrated and
ready for use.
With the flat region of the cone placed against the surface of the
appliance the detector is slowly moved to locate the point of
maximum microwave leakage, particular attention being given to
the door region.
The yellow indicator will illuminate when microwave power is
detected above 1mW.cm
Hazardous radiation is signalled by the red indicators calibrated at

An audible tone will sound as an additional warning of microwave
leakage detected above the 5mW. cm
