Wedge

for details regarding all engine-related controls and
features.

Remove and discard the screw located on
the top of the back side of the wedge. Then
seperate and install push-in air vent plug in
the same hole the screw was removed from.
See Figure 3-9.

Hydraulic Valve Control
The hydraulic valve control has three positions;
forward, neutral and reverse and controls the
movement of the ram. See Figure 4-1.
Hydraulic Oil Fill
The hydraulic oil fill is located at the end of the
beam and is used to fill the hydraulic tank with
hydraulic oil. See Figure 4-1.

Lubricate the beam area (where the cylinder
will slide) with engine oil. Do not use grease.

With the engine toggle switch off and key
removed from the FLEX™ Power Base, pull
the engine start rope 8-10 times to prime
the pump.

Toggle on and install key and start the
engine in accordance with the FLEX™ Power
Base Operator's Manual included with that
machine.

Cycle cylinder out and retract 2-3 times to
fill cylinder with oil.
17.
Stop the engine in accordance with the
FLEX™ Power Base Operator's Manual
included with that machine. Remove
logsplitter reservoir fill plug and top off with
oil if necessary and repeat steps 7-9.
Air Vent
The air vent is located on the rear of the wedge
and is used to help vent air out of the hydraulic
fluid reservoir. To prevent fluid from escaping
out of this hole, the log splitter must always be
operated on level ground. See Figure 4-1.
Locking Pin
The locking pin is located on the cylinder base
and is used to lock the cylinder into the cylinder
Locking Pin
base. The cylinder can be locked in either the
storage position or the operating lock position.
See Figure 4-1.
Wedge
The wedge is used to split the wood.
See Figure 4-1.
Ram
The ram is located on the end of the cylinder and
when extended, forces the wood against the
wedge to split the wood. See Figure 4-1.
Starting and Stopping the Engine
Start and stop the engine on the FLEX™ Power
Base in accordance with the Operator's Manual
included with that machine.
Read the entire Operator's Manual
before you attempt to operate your
new log splitter.
WARNING! Wear leather work
gloves, safety shoes, ear protection,
and safety glasses when operating a
log splitter. Ensure safe footing.
WARNING! If leaving this equipment
unattended turn the engine OFF and
remove the ignition key.
