 Center step pad trim is removed by removing small square covers located on top
surface near each end of trim piece. A straight edge screwdriver can be used to
gently pry up the covers. The clip underneath is removed by prying up center "pop-
up" pin with trim tool or needle nose pliers (Fig. 2). These can be difficult to get out
without damaging them and may need to be replaced. Once pin is up, pry clip
fastener out of hole. Finally, (2) 10 mm bolts need to be removed that hold trim
tabs to bottom of bumper.
 Begin installing BumperShellz™ by peeling off the red tape backing from strips
located on the back surface. Tuck the upper flange under step pad trim, starting at
the inboard end and working outboard to the corner. This is done by slightly lifting
the trim edge with a non-scratching prying device and sliding the BumperShellz™
flange underneath (Fig. 3). Do not use excessive force, as this may damage your
BumperShellz™. If the BumperShell is not going on with reasonable effort, a flange
is probably hung up somewhere.
NOTE: Try not to allow the tape to contact the Bumper until the BumperShellz™ are
properly positioned (license plate lamp cut-out aligned with cut-out on your bumper).
 Press the BumperShellz against the bumper at inboard corner where the
BumperShellz wrap around the narrow area of bumper covered by the center trim
piece (Fig. 4). Press down on the tape in the license plate area to hold the
BumperShell in place as you reinstall the license plate lamp in the reverse order of
removal.
 Pull the BumperShellz™ around corner and tuck flange up in to the trim, while trying
not to allow tape to contact bumper until the BumperShell is in proper position
(corner flange completely covering bumper flange – Fig. 5). Once all slack is
removed between BumperShellz™ and bumper, use firm pressure on all taped areas
to assure good adhesion. Rub over the taped areas firmly with a soft cloth to help
ensure that it is seated securely. Repeat assembly process for opposite side.
 Reinstall center step pad trim and license plate in reverse order of removal. The
added thickness of the BumperShellz™ will make this fit a little tighter, so it will take
a little more force to push the trim in place and align the push-pin holes. Make sure
the push-pin is properly engaged before re-installing the covers.
NOTE for Maximum Adhesion: The acrylic foam tape used to adhere your BumperShellz is "pressure sensitive", so
making sure there is sufficient pressure applied to each of the taped areas is vital to achieve optimum adhesion of
your BumperShellz™ to your bumper. It is also recommended that you come back a few hours later, or the next
day, to give each BumperShellz piece another pressure rub to ensure the best adhesion. Allow the tape adhesive to
set up for at least 24 hours before washing your truck. Maximum adhesion is reached after 3-5 days in
temperatures above 70 degrees, longer if it is cooler. Once the adhesive has fully bonded to a properly prepared
bumper surface, it is nearly impossible to remove the BumperShellz without damaging them. Please refer to
"removal instructions" in the BumperShellz FAQ section on the website, should removal be necessary.
Care for your BumperShellz™ like you would any fine paint finish. Use high quality cleaning products designed
specifically for car care.
 Gloss finishes: Often times, minor scratches can be buffed out on the gloss finishes. Rubbing compounds can
be used with a mechanical buffer, for deeper scratches.
 Matte finishes are much more susceptible to abrasions, leaving a "glossy sheen" on the finish, which are
generally permanent. Do not attempt to buff out scratches/abrasions on your matte finish, as this will generally
make the damage worse. Avoid excessive friction when trying to remove anything stuck to the matte finish
surface and keep cleaning rags/water clean and abrasive free. Abrasive brush-type car washes are not
recommended, as they can abrade the Matte finish. Brushless car washes are acceptable.
