will still have 75% of its energy in the power pack; after 6
months, 50% will remain.
Switch and Control Lever
Your drill is equipped with variable speed reversing switch (VSR).
To turn the tool ON, move the control lever to the left or right and
squeeze the trigger switch. The control lever is a three position lever
located over the trigger switch shown in Figure 1. To drill holes or
drive screws, slide the control lever to the left and squeeze the
trigger. To turn the tool OFF release the trigger switch. To back out
jammed drill bits or to remove screws, slide the control lever to the
right and squeeze the trigger. To lock the tool OFF for storage or
when not being used, slide the control lever to the center position.
Torque Control
Your drill is equipped with an adjustable torque control feature that
enables you to select the torque that best fits your needs. When the
tool reaches the preselected torque setting the clutch slips, thus
limiting how tightly a screw is driven.
NOTE: The tool's motor will continue to run as long as the trigger
button is depressed even though the spindle stops rotating as the
clutch slips.

RIVER BIT
To set the tool's torque, rotate the adjustable torque collar
clockwise as required. Six positions are marked around the collar
and the higher the number, the higher the torque. To select a
particular setting, align the desired number on the clutch collar with
the arrows on the housing, as shown in Figure 5. As you rotate the
collar it will click as it locks into various settings. Although the
settings are not identified with finite torque values, each click in a
clockwise direction means an increase in the torque produced.
Position 6 is the drill mode. In this position the clutch will not
operate. This permits heavy duty drilling.
As a general rule, the larger the screw, the higher the torque
needed to drive it and the smaller the screw, the less torque
required. As you become accustomed to your drill you'll find that
the adjustable torque control feature is quite helpful and very easy
to use.
Practice a few times with pieces of scrap until you develop a feel
for the proper torque setting.
Keyless Chuck Operation
To attach accessories, loosen the chuck by rotating the outer
sleeve counterclockwise until the chuck is open enough to accept
the accessory. Insert the accessory as far as it will go and tighten
the outer sleeve by hand.
Operation
FOR LONGER RUNNING TIME BETWEEN CHARGES, DON'T
FORCE TOOL.
1. Use sharp drill bits only. For WOOD use twist drill bits, spade
bits, power auger bits or hole saws. For METAL use high
speed steel twist bits.
2. Be sure the material to be drilled is clamped or anchored firmly.
If drilling thin material, use a wood back up block for added
support. This will help prevent damage to the material.
