Congratulations on choosing NuTone loudspeakers! Great
care has been taken in their design, choice of material and
manufacture to maximize their performance at affordable
cost. When used individually with other 8 Ohm stereo
speakers in any 8 Ohm stereo amplifier system or in
combination with other NuTone 8 Ohm stereo speakers in
the "MS" series, they will provide years of excellent,
balanced and distortion-free listening pleasure.
INTRODUCTION
The MS-725 Center Channel Speaker is a two-way speaker
with two, 4" low-frequency drivers and a
specifically designed to reproduce voice frequencies in a
clear and crisp manner. Therefore, when added to a stereo
surround sound home entertainment system it will provide
exceptional stereo sound imaging effects and actions that
move across the screen. The enhanced movie dialog at the
center of the stage will give you a feeling of being right in the
middle of the action.
The center channel speaker MS-725 is magnetically
shielded. Hence, it can be placed directly above or near a
TV without distorting the picture.
NuTone SENSONIC™ SURROUND SOUND Center
Channel Speaker MS-725 is acoustically matched to other
stereo speakers in the "MS" series. Hence, a well-balanced
home theater system can be built using the
optimally-engineered speaker components. The "MS" series
includes a variety of two-way and three-way in-wall
speakers, two-way ceiling speakers, center channel speaker,
sub-woofer and two-way indoor/outdoor speakers to
complete a system.
PLACEMENT OF THE
CENTER CHANNEL SPEAKER
To obtain discernable improvement in clarity and natural
sound from the center channel speaker, it is important to
position it properly and isolate it acoustically from the TV.
The center channel speaker is shielded to prevent distortion
of the TV picture. Additionally, you will notice that the cabinet
of the speaker is flat on one edge and sloping on the other,
as shown in Figure 1. This design helps to project the sound
forward to the main listening area and decouple the speaker
acoustically from the TV. In most applications, these
parameters should be sufficient to obtain dramatic
improvement in sound quality.

Therefore, when placing the speaker above the TV, put it on
its flat side so that the sound projects directly in front where
listeners are seated. However, if you wish to place the
speaker below the TV, put it on its sloping side so that
sound projects upward toward listener's ears.
INSTALLATION
Connecting the center channel speaker to your TV or A/V
receiver is simple. Make sure the system is off. Refer to
Figure 1, which is a typical example of a system using Dolby
Pro-Logic A/V receiver and a pair of front and back
speakers. Strip about
22 AWG wire supplied at each end. This wire is color coded
with a white stripe. Connect the wire to proper terminals of
the speaker and receiver. Make sure that the same white
coded wire goes from the "RED" (+) terminal on your TV or
receiver to the "RED" (+) terminal on the speaker. The solid
black side of the wire connects to the "BLACK" (-) terminals.
For making connection, simply push terminal and insert the
wire in the slot.
OPERATIONAL CHECK
After making all connections, check for proper operation.
Switch on the system. Select a channel on TV and slowly
increase the volume. You should hear sound from the
speakers with dialog or speech from your center channel
speaker. If no sound is heard from any or all speakers,
switch off the system immediately and check for open or
loose connections, wrong polarity or shorts.
OVERLOAD PROTECTION
The center channel speaker MS-725 has a built-in automatic
reset circuit breaker which protects it from being destroyed
when overdriven by the amplifier. The circuit breaker opens
when the amplifier overdrives the speaker. It automatically
resets in about 30 seconds when the volume is turned down
to a safe limit, or when the short from speaker wires is
removed. In this way, the speaker is protected.
