FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS COULD RESULT IN INJURY.
WARNING
Always operate, inspect and maintain this tool in accordance with all regula-
tions (local, state, federal and country) that apply to hand held, air operated
tools.
Operate this tool at 90 p.s.i.g. (6.2 bar) maximum air pressure at the air inlet
of the tool.
Disconnect air supply from tool before removing/installing any accessory or
performing maintenance procedures.
Keep hands, clothing and long hair away from rotating end of tool.
Anticipate and be alert for sudden changes in motion during start up and op-
eration of any power tool.
Never exceed rated r.p.m. of tool.
Wear suitable eye and hearing protection while operating tool.
Tool shaft can continue to rotate briefly after throttle is released.
Do not lubricate tools with flammable or volatile liquids such as kerosene,
diesel or jet fuel.
Do not remove any labels. Replace any damaged label.
Use only accessories recommended by ARO.
Wear protective clothing, if necessary, for spark deflection.
After mounting a new wheel, hold the tool in a protected enclosure and run it
at operating speed for at least 60 seconds. Make certain no one is within the
operating plane of the wheel.
Release the throttle and allow the wheel to stop rotating before putting the
tool down. Tool rests, hangers or balancers are recommended.
Do not use any grinding wheel, bur or other accessory having a maximum
operating speed less than the free speed of the tool.
Before mounting a wheel, after all tool repairs and whenever a tool is issued
for use, check the free speed of the tool with a tachometer, to be sure the ac-
tual tool speed does not exceed the r.p.m. stamped on the nameplate. Do not
check the speed with a grinding wheel on the tool.
Check tool for excessive speed and vibration before operating.
Always use the recommended wheel guard furnished with the tool.
Replace damaged, bent or severely worn guards. Do not use a guard that
has been subjected to a wheel failure.
Guard opening must face away from the tool operator.
If a wire brush is being used with this tool, be sure the speed rating of the
brush is higher than that of the tool.
Inspect all grinding wheels for chips and cracks before mounting. Do not use
a wheel that is chipped, cracked or otherwise damaged. Do not use a wheel
that has been soaked in water or other liquid.
WARNING
Wear eye protection when operating
or performing maintenance on this
tool.

OPERATING AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING
Wear hearing protection when
operating this tool.
WARNING
Do not use damaged, frayed or
deteriorated air hoses and fittings.
WARNING
Operate at 90 p.s.i.g.
(6.2 bar/620 kPa)
maximum air pressure.
When mounting a grinding wheel, operate the tool at a gradually increasing
speed and check for good balance of the wheel. If unbalance is observed,
the wheel shall be dressed. If dressing fails to establish acceptable balance,
the wheel will not be used.
Be sure the driving flanges for type 1 wheels are of the relieved type and are
at least 1/3 the diameter of the wheel.
Be sure the driving flanges for type 6, 11, 16 thru 19, 27 and 28 wheels are
flat, unrelieved and at least 1/3 the diameter of the wheel.
Make certain the wheel flanges are at least 1/3 the diameter of the grinding
wheel, free of nicks, burrs and sharp edges. Always use the wheel flanges
furnished by the manufacturer.
Use a wheel blotter between each wheel flange and the wheel. Blotters must
be at least as large in diameter as the wheel flanges.
Make certain the grinding wheel properly fits the spindle. The wheel should
not fit too snugly or too loosely. The normal diametral clearance between the
wheel and the spindle is approximately .007" (.17 mm).
Do not use reducing bushings to adapt a wheel to any spindle unless the
bushings are supplied or recommended by the wheel manufacturer.
Be sure the collet is in good condition and properly attached to the tool
spindle.
Insert the mandrel to the full depth of the gripping jaws of the collet. Insert at
least 1/2 of the mandrel length into the collet.
WARNING
Repeated prolonged operator exposure to vibrations which may be generated in
the use of certain hand- - held tools may produce Raynaud's phenomenon, com-
monly referred to as Whitefinger disease. The phenomenon produces numbness
and burning sensations in the hand and may cause circulation and nerve damage
as well as tissue necrosis. Repetitive users of hand- - held tools who experience
vibrations should closely monitor duration of use and their physical condition.
NOTICE
The use of other than genuine ARO replacement parts may result in safety
hazards, decreased tool performance and increased maintenance and may
invalidate all warranties.
ARO is not responsible for customer modification of tools for applications on
which ARO was not consulted.
Tool maintenance and repair should be performed by authorized, trained,
competent personnel. Consult your nearest ARO authorized servicenter.
