Installation Instructions
General Information
Optional electric heaters are available for job
site installation. These heaters are located
inside the central section of the unit, with
the heating elements inside the air impulse
section (see Fig. 1, Access panels).
All electric heaters are 2-stage and are sup-
plied with automatic switches for each one.
Electronic boards, cables and all material
needed for installation within the unit are
supplied with this accessory.
The power supply to the heater should be
independent of the main power supply, and
have its own automatic switch (not sup-
plied).
The following tables list the electrical speci-
fications of the heater.
The limitations tables specify minimum flows
of the indoor fan.
Technical Specifications
Electric heaters include the following com-
ponents:
- Galvanized sheet casing, covers and sup-
ports.
- Uncovered nickel-chrome electric heater
resistances on isolated supports.
- Power supply contactor with a 24 VAC
coil.
- Four heat switches located at the top
section, and magnetothermal controls
of the heater. The first heat switch, with
automatic reset, disconnects when tem-
perature reaches 77° C. The second heat
switch, with manual reset, disconnects
when the heater reaches 105° C.
- Interlock with the indoor fan heat relay. The
unit control system does not let the heater
operate if the indoor fan heat relay fails.
- Control plates (A6 and A7) for heater
operation.

all cases.
See Figs. 1, 2, 3, 4 and diagram for electric
heater installation details. Install the heater
as follows:
1. Turn off main power supply to the unit
with switch Q1. 3 (Fig. 1)
2. Open the access doors to the heat-
ing accessories in the impulse area. 1
(Fig. 1)
3. Remove the access cover to the impulse
area 11 (Fig. 3) and discard. (Do not
misplace screws; they will be needed
afterwards.)
4. In the case of side impulse duct (Fig. 2-
A), do not remove any other panel and
continue the process as of point 6.
5. In the case of bottom impulse duct (Fig.
2-B), remove and discard the bottom
impulse cover 12 (Fig. 3).
ATTENTION:
If, for mounting ease, it is necessary
to temporarily remove any other panel:
Once the installation is completed,
replace these panels in their original
position, without forgetting any screws.
6. Remove heater from packing, opening
the cardboard box from the top. Check
to see that the heater assembly and
ceramic insulation are not damaged.
The heater resistances should not be in
contact with the metal assembly of the
support.
7. Install the heater base assembly 13
(Fig. 4) (comprised of base sheeting,
side guides and end stop).
Place into position and fasten to the
profile of the Rooftop impulse base with
4 screws.
8. Install the electric heater, moving it over
the base and guides to reach the end
stop. Make sure the temperature probes
5 (Fig. 1) are in the top section and the
electric box in the bottom section.
9. Fasten the heater with the two metal
flanges 15 (Fig. 4) in the internal area,
using 4 M-6 screws for each flange.

10. Install the «electric box support panel»
16 (Fig. 14) on the right side.
11. Fasten the electric box to the panel.
12. Install the electronic boards accessory,
auxiliary heater 1 and 2 (A6 and A7) 9
and 10 on the main electric box side
(Fig. 1), next to plates A1 and A2. Con-
nect the operating cables of the heater
as per the wiring diagram. Connect the
telephone cable to the trunk of the ac-
cessories.
13. Check for correct installation.
14. Make sure manual and automatic reset
terminals (F12, F13, F15 and F16) are
closed.
15. Install the heater and louver cover as-
sembly 17 (Fig. 14) on the left side. Pass
the cable hose through the hole between
the panels.
16. Connect the main power supply cables to
F21 and F22 through switch Q2 (not sup-
plied), and connect the ground cable.
17. Set automatic switches F21 and F22 to
ON.
18. Connect the main power supply to the
unit and to the electric heater.
19. To set up accessories, press the test
button on control board A1 for over 2
seconds, until the red LED on the board
goes on. The set up will be completed
once the LED goes off.
When the accessory boards are pow-
ered, the green LED remains on. When
the set up is correct, the green LED
flashes.
20. Check general operation of the heater by
setting to Emergency Heat on the control
ambient thermostat of the air condition-
ing unit.
WARNING
Loose cables can cause over-
heating of the terminals or incor-
rect operation of the unit. Fire
hazards may also arise. There-
fore, make sure all cables are
connected tightly.
