BATTERIES
The battery supplied is partially charged (to ensure
full capacity of the battery, completely charge the battery
in the battery charger before using your power tool for the
first time)
Only use the following batteries and chargers with
this tool
- SKIL battery: BR1*31****
- SKIL charger: CR1*31****
Do not use the battery when damaged; it should be
replaced
Do not disassemble the battery
Do not expose tool/battery to rain
Permitted ambient temperature (tool/charger/battery):
- when charging 4...40°C
- during operation –20...+50°C
- during storage –20...+50°C
EXPLANATION OF SYMBOLS ON TOOL/BATTERY

4 Batteries may explode when disposed of in fire, so do not
burn battery for any reason
5 Store tool/charger/battery in locations where temperature
will not exceed 50°C
6 Do not dispose of electric tools and batteries together

USE
Charging battery
! read the safety warnings and instructions
provided with the charger
Removing/installing the battery 2
Battery level indicator 7
- press the battery level indicator button L to show the
current battery level.
Combined switch for on/off and speed control with
locking knob 8 9
- first unlock by pressing knob A
- switch on the tool by pulling trigger B
- control the speed steplessly from zero to maximum by
putting less or more pressure on the trigger
- switch off by releasing trigger B
Locking knob A can be activated 8
- if activated, the on/off switch is blocked and the
machine is secured against being switched on
unintentionally
LED-light q
LED-light M automatically lights on when activating
switch B
Mounting saw blade w
! remove battery from tool before making any
adjustments or changing accessories
- turn blade clamp C in same direction as arrow D on tool
and hold it in that position
- insert blade (with teeth facing down or up) to full depth
- release blade clamp C
- push in and pull out blade to check whether it is locked
correctly

Operating the tool
! securely clamp the workpiece
- mark the cutting line on the workpiece
- mount battery on tool
- hold the tool with one hand on handle E and the other
on the insulated barrel grip F
- switch on the tool
- guide the tool along the marked cutting line
- keep footplate G firmly against the workpiece to
minimize counter-force and vibration
Battery protection
Switches off the tool or prevents the tool from being
switched on, when
- the load is too high
- the battery temperature is not within the allowable
operating temperature range of -20 to +50°C
- the lithium-ion battery is nearly empty (to protect
against deep discharge)
! do not continue to press the on/off switch after the
tool is switched off automatically; battery may be
damaged
Holding and guiding the tool
! while working, always hold the tool at the grey-
coloured grip area(s) e
- keep ventilation slots H uncovered
- do not apply too much pressure on the tool; let the tool
do the work for you
! ensure that the saw blade extends beyond the
work throughout the stroke r
Adjusting effective sawing depth t
! remove battery from tool before making any
adjustments or changing accessories
- use hex key K for loosening and fastening both
fastening bolts J
- slide footplate G forward/backwards in order to enlarge/
reduce the effective sawing depth
APPLICATION ADVICE
Plunge cutting y
Plunge cuts can be made in wood and other soft
materials without pre-drilling a hole
- use a thick saw blade
! remove battery from tool before making any
adjustments or changing accessories
- mount the blade with the teeth facing upward
- mark desired cutting line on the workpiece
- tilt the tool so that the blade does not touch the
workpiece
- switch on the tool and carefully engage the moving saw
blade into the workpiece
- after the blade has penetrated through the workpiece
continue sawing along the marked cutting line
! do not make plunge cuts in metal materials
Use the appropriate saw blades u
When cutting metals, lubricate saw blade regularly with
oil
Splinter-free cutting
- cover cutting-line with several layers of wide tape
before cutting
- always face the good side of the workpiece down
