Problem
Every mains cable carries disturbances in itself. Short duration
voltage peaks are mainly caused due to switching of inductive
loads such as motors, contactors, pumps or solenoid valves.
These voltage peaks couple in neighbouring bus cables and can
lead to unexpected malfunction of systems or system components.
Laying of cables
The bus cables should be installed at a recommended distance of
15 to 20 cm from the cables with mains voltage. Otherwise shiel-
ded cables should be used.
Cable type
A two-core, twisted cable with a conductor cross-section of 1.5
mm² should be used for the bus connection.
In case of larger distances between the EUROCONTROL-controls,
following conditions should be met:
Limitation due to cable resistance R:
– Max. cable length:
– 250 m per EUROCONTROL (EC)
– max. 1000 m between the farthest EC from each other
Limitation by cable capacity C
– Max. cable length:
– 250 m per EUROCONTROL
– max. 1,400 m (sum of all strands at 100 pF/m)
– Max. cable capacity:
– 25 nZ per EUROCONTROL
– max. 140 nF (Sum of all strands)
