The product has been developed for simple module exchange to follow the On-
site service strategy.
Module exchange is possible On-site, at the dealer or in the service workshop
whatever is most convenient in each case. For On-site service a Back-up suitcase
must be used.
This way of servicing is recommended, due to the fact that most of the modules
are multilayer based, and most of the circuits are on a single main PCB. For On-site
service it is possible to order a Back-up suitcase.
If the main PCB is replaced, the entire identity of the set is maintained (security
code included).
If the main PCB is suffering from an intermittent fault, the display can read out
error codes in test mode.
The CD-PRO II mechanism can be changed on-site or in service centres. Both the
CD-mechanism and the servo/decoder PCB are one single unit for easy replacement
and future update. There is easy access for cleaning the lens, and by means of test
modes most fault symptoms are identifi ed.
The gearbox which loads the CD is a block module and must be changed as a
complete part.
The antenna module can be replaced on-site.
All speakers can be replaced (placed behind the removable front cover). There is
simple sound level adjustment via the display.
Part of the main PCB. The only adjustment necessary after module exchange is the
speaker sound level. Read out the values for adjustment (in test mode) before
replacing the module - if possible.
The complete display and IR receiver module can be changed by removing the
front cover only.
If it's necessary to exchange PCB1 (Radio/CD/LF/µP) and PCB3 (Display) at the same
time (as a damage due to lightning) both modules must be send to Bang & Olufsen
service department to be renamed.
