1 Introduction
The Vetus radio remote control system for thrusters provides the ultimate in ease of
installation and convenient control of your boat's sideways motion through the water.
Now you can stand in the best vantage point when you're docking in a cross wind or
cross current, in the tightest of marinas, and see exactly what's happening as you oper-
ate the thrusters.
1.1 The transmitter
The transmitter can be worn on the lanyard supplied with
your system, so that it's always close at hand and ready for
use. Up to seven additional transmitters can be purchased
at any time and can be programmed in a few minutes to
work with your system. If you have more than one transmit-
ter on board, and they're operated simultaneously, nothing
happens. As soon as just one is being used, everything
works again. The big buttons control the bow thruster, the
small buttons control the stern thruster. Each remote con-
trol is powered by a battery (see 6 Specifications for type),
which will need to be replaced from time to time, depending
on how much you use your remote control system.
1.2 The receiver
The receiver plugs into any
unused plug at the back of a
Vetus thrusters control panel
(joystick or rocker switch).
If your boat has a bow and
stern thruster, there will be
two receivers, one to plug
into the control wiring for the
bow thruster, and one to plug
into the control wiring for the
stern thruster, again, at the
back of a fixed control panel.
The receiver draws its electri-
cal power through the exist-
ing control panel wiring.
