Column Storage
Reversed Phase (C18, EVO C18, XB-C18, C8, Biphenyl, Phenyl-
Hexyl, F5 and PFP)
Column storage for a period longer than several days is recommended
in ≥ 50 % (v/v) acetonitrile or methanol in water. If the mobile phase
contained buffer salt, then flush the column with 10 to 20 column
volumes of water / acetonitrile or water / methanol to remove the buffer
salts before storage. After flushing the column, insert column end plugs
securely to prevent evaporation and drying out of the column bed.
HILIC
Column storage for a period longer than several days is recommended
in 90 % (v/v) acetonitrile in water. If the mobile phase contained buffer
salt, then flush the column with 10 to 20 column volumes of 90:10
acetonitrile / water to remove the buffer salts before storage. After
flushing the column, insert column end plugs securely to prevent
evaporation and drying out of the column bed.
Kinetex 1.3 µm Operating Tips
Every care should be made to prevent and eliminate microbial growth
in mobile phase reservoirs and UHPLC system plumbing when using a
Kinetex 1.3 µm column. Some general recommended tips include:
Solvents: Use ultra-pure, high quality UHPLC solvents
Aqueous Mobile Phases: Change daily or add 5-10 % organic modifier
to water
Mobile Phase-Reservoirs: Rinse aqueous reservoirs with methanol prior
to refilling
UHPLC System: Flush with isopropanol or methanol weekly
OPTIMIZING THE PERFORMANCE
OF YOUR KINETEX
COLUMN
®
Flow Rate
Kinetex columns are capable of maintaining high efficiencies with
increasing flow rate. To reduce analysis times using Kinetex use shorter
length columns (30, 50 or 75 mm) and increase the mobile phase flow
rate.
There is an optimal Kinetex column for your
system and operating conditions.
