Voltage Tester
3-wire AC Grounded
Outlets and Cords: Insert
probes into the hot (narrow)
and neutral (wide) slots of
the receptacle. Tester will
glow on a live circuit. To check
grounding, insert one probe
into the hot (narrow) side and
the other into the "U" hape
ground. Tester should glow.
2-wire AC Outlets and Cords: Insert probes
into both slots of the receptacle. Tester will
glow on a live circuit. To determine hot wire,
insert one probe into one of the slots and
touch the other probe to the metal mounting
screw or metal plate. If the screw is grounded,
the tester will glow when connected to the
hot wire. The other slot is the neutral.
3-wire 220V AC Outlets:
Test for normal (110V) glow between round
slot (neutral) and either hot side. Test will
glow brighter when placed across both hot
sides (220V).
WARNING: Voltages less than 90 Volts may not be
detected by this tester, although they may be
present.

electrical circuits to avoid injury due to electrical

Cordones y enchufes de 3
hilos CA, puesto a tierra:
Inserte las sondas en las
ranuras, corriente
(delegada) y neutro (ancha),
del enchufe.
El probador brilla en un
circuito bajo tensión. Para
verificar la tierra, inserte una
sonda en la corriente (delgada) y la otra en el
orificio de tierra en forma de "U". El probador
debe brillar.
Cordones y enchufes de 2 hilos CA: Inserte las
sondas en ambas ranuras del enchufe. El
probador brillará en un circuito bajo tensión.
Para determinar el alambre con corriente,
inserte una sonda en una de las ranuras y
toque la otra sonda al tornillo metálico o placa
metálica de montaje. Si el tornillo está puesto
a tierra, el probador brilla al conectarse al
alambre con corriente. La otra ranura es
neutral.
Enchufes de 3 alambres 220V CA: Prueba
para brillo normal (110V) entre la ranura
redonda (neutro) y cualquiera de los lados con
corriente. La prueba es más brillante al
insertar las sondas en los dos contactos con
corriente (220V).
ADVERTENCIA: Voltaje menor a 90 voltios puede no ser
detectado con este probador, sin embargo puede estar
presente.
