Installation advice
INSTALL THE DETECTOR :
inside the premises, on a wall adjacent to or facing the window or on a ceiling not
more than 4.5 metres high,
in a room larger than 3 metres x 3 metres,
in a room with a number of windows to protect (the glass must measure at least
30cm x 30cm),
within a maximum range of 4.5 metres from the windows, if there are any obs-
tacles that may absorb the vibrations from the breaking glass (curtains, blinds, etc.),
more than I metre from the protected window closest to the detector,
so that the zone protected does not overlap that protected by another audio sonic
detector.
DO NOT INSTALL THE DETECTOR :
in humid rooms (kitchens, bathrooms): the ambient humidity may cause false
alarms,
in any echoing rooms, particularly if the detector is active when the room is occu-
pied (intruder protection part set),
close to any sources of interference (electricity meter, computers, etc.) or in direct
sunlight
on the same wall as the windows it is protecting,
directly onto a metal surface.

Zone protected for single or
double glazing
Zone not protected
If you install a glass breakage detector on a metal surface, you must put a
wooden or plastic wedge, 2 centimetres thick, under the transmitter box.
DETECTION TEST
If the system includes a siren or a transmitter, these units may be triggered by
the test. It is advisable to have a remote control (or a key pad) nearby
Put the control panel into test mode (see Guide to installing the system).
Put the detector in the place you have selected, but do not install it yet.
Take the TV260 audio sonic tester, borrowed from your retailer and select
"Toughened glass"
Change the detector to test mode as follows:

press the detector test button: the transmitter indicator light will come on
while you are pressing the button,
hold the tester loudspeaker against the audio sonic sensor microphone,
activate the tester by moving the switch to "Manual". The detector indicator lights
will come on for 4 seconds then the sensor indicator light will flash. Press the test
button again: the detector will remain in test mode for about 90 seconds.
Select the type of glass on the tester, place the tester against the inside of the
window to be protected and switch it on (in either manual or continuous mode): the
detector indicator lights will come on, the control panel will respond with a voice
message or a series of audible messages and one of the indicator lights will come
on.
If there is detection, but only the sensor indicator light comes on, repeat the
detector test procedure from the beginning..
After 90 seconds, the detector will return to normal functioning.
It will no longer be possible to simulate detection using the audio sonic tester,
The glass breakage sensor is sensitive to noise or impact in the area immediately
around it and the indicator light will come on. This will not, however, send a radio
alert.
It is not possible to test the detector by breaking bottles or on
windows that have not yet been fitted.
SECURING THE DETECTOR :
Fasten the base of the transmitter box in place using the screws and the plugs
supplied, or others if they are more suitable (it does not matter which way up the
box is fitted).
Clip the detector onto the base. This activates antitamper protection against
opening.
Change the control panel back to normal mode and the detector installation is
complete.
CHANGING THE BATTERY :
Manual test
You can test the condition of any detector battery by pressing its test key. If the
transmitter box indicator light does not come on, you must change the battery.
To change the battery without setting off an alarm when you open a detector (it is
tamper protected against opening) press the Off key on the remote control or ask
someone else to enter "Off" on the keypad.
Open the detector during the voice message
beep for "Off".
