Order No. 25.4590
16-Channel Audio Transmitter
GB
Please read these operating instructions care-
fully prior to operation and keep them for later
reference.
1 Applications
In combination with one or several receivers
ATS-162R, the transmitter ATS-162T provides a
mobile wireless system for audio transmission,
suitable e. g. for guided tours, lectures in different
languages, wireless command transmission or
wireless transmissions of audio signals with line
level.
For transmission, 16 channels are available in
the frequency range 863 – 865 MHz, up to 8 chan-
nels may be used at the same time without
mutual interference. The transmission range de-
pends on local conditions and may reach 50 m
as a maximum.
The transmitter may also be combined with
the units of the series TXA-800 and TXA-1000
as these units use the same frequencies.
2 Important Notes
The unit corresponds to all relevant directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with
G
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect
it against dripping water and splash water,
high air humidity and heat (admissible ambi-
ent temperature: 0 – 40 °C).
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never
use water or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the unit and no liabil-
ity for any resulting personal damage or mate-
rial damage will be accepted if the unit is used
for other purposes than originally intended, if it
is not correctly connected or operated, or if it is
not repaired in an expert way.
If the unit is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harm-
ful to the environment.

3 Setting into Operation

3.1 Recharging the battery

For mobile operation the ATS-162T is equipped
with a rechargeable lithium polymer battery.
To recharge it, use the charger ATS-162C* or
the charger ATS-162PS*. With a battery fully
charged, the transmitter can be operated for ap-
prox. 15 hours.
* The charger ATS-162C allows to recharge the batter-
ies of up to 30 units at the same time, the charger
ATS-162PS allows to recharge the batteries of 2 units.
Hints for a long battery life:
– Prior to the first setting into operation fully
charge the battery.
– If the battery is discharged (the battery sym-
bol on the left of the display flashes), fully
recharge it as soon as possible.
– Recharge the battery frequently.
3.2 Operation with a 5 V power supply unit
The transmitter can also be operated with a 5 V
power supply unit* when a mains socket is avail-
able at the place of application. Thus, a longer
operation is possible than it is provided with a
battery fully recharged; at the same time the bat-
.
tery is recharged. For connection, a low voltage
plug of the dimensions 3.5 / 1.35 mm (outside / in-
side diameter) is required. The positive pole
must be at the inner contact. Connect the power
supply unit to the lateral jack (7).
* e. g. the model PSS-600E from MONACOR or the power
supply unit provided with the charger ATS-162PS.
3.3 Connecting a separate microphone or
using the audio output
For voice transmission, a microphone (3) is inte-
grated. A separate electret microphone can be
connected to the jack (1). In this case the inte-
grated microphone is switched off.
However, an audio signal e. g. from a mixer or
MP3 / CD player can be fed to the 3.5 mm jack
(4) to transmit it to the receiver. When connect-
ing the jack, the internal microphone (3) and a
microphone connected to the jack
switched off.
4 Operation
1) First switch on the corresponding receiver
only and set it to a free transmission channel
(
manual of the receiver).
2) Switch on the transmitter: Press the button
(8) until the display (5) shortly shows "On".
Then the button
3) Set the transmitter to the transmission chan-
nel of the receiver: Keep the button SET (6)

quency can be indicated by shortly pressing
the button SET.
4) Adjust the volume of the audio signal trans-
mitted with the buttons + and - (three levels,
indication VOL 1 – 3). To adjust it, the channel
number must not flash or the transmitting fre-
quency must not be shown, if required, shortly
wait.
5) Use the button
transmitted. Then the button shows red. To
switch on again, press the button once more.
6) If several ATS-162 systems are used at the
same time for transmitting different signals,
set a different channel for each separate sys-
tem. Up to eight audio signals can be trans-
mitted at the same time if channels 1 to 8 are
used for this purpose.
7) To switch off the transmitter, keep the button
pressed until the display shortly shows "OFF".
