Refrigeration connections

To guarantee the quality of our products the condensing unit refrigeration system is supplied charged
with dry nitrogen.
Recommendations
To maintain the quality of a TECUMSEH EUROPE condensing unit and to ensure it functions correctly,
the following precautions should be taken:
- Purge the system with nitrogen whilst brazing.
- Insulate the suction line up to the compressor inlet to avoid condensation.
A minimum superheat of 10K at the compressor suction is recommended to guarantee correct compressor
operation. We advise using a minimum of 19mm of insulation on the suction line for low temperature
evaporation applications in order to prevent condensation and ice formation.
Rotary compressors do not have internal mounting springs. The internal design and external mountings
are designed to reduce vibration from the compressor. However, it is possible that some vibration may
be transmitted to the suction and discharge pipework.
Anti-vibration pipework design on the discharge pipework is incorporated within the condensing unit
to prevent vibration being transmitted to the rest of the installation. However, we recommend using
vibration eliminators or anti-vibration pipework when connecting the condensing unit in order to isolate
it from the rest of the installation. Copper tube and copper connections must be used.
General design principles for pipework
• Suction pipework
Suction pipework returns refrigerant gas to the compressor from the evaporator. In practice, the suction
pipework should be designed to limit the pressure drop.
