Unpacking Your Tool

Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Familiarise yourself
with all its features and functions.
Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good
condition. If any parts are missing or damaged, have such
parts replaced before attempting to use this tool.

Preparation

CAUTION. Always ensure that the drill is switched off and
plug is removed from the power point before making any
adjustments.
Fitting the auxiliary handle
1. Turn the Auxiliary Handle (12) anticlockwise to loosen the
collar and slip it over the front of the
drill
2. The handle can be secured at any
position around the collar. Rotate
the handle to the position that is
most comfortable and offers greatest
support for each application
3. Turn the auxiliary handle clockwise
to secure it in position
Using the depth gauge
Use the depth gauge when drilling a number of holes to a
specific depth. To change the position
of the depth gauge:
1. Loosen the Depth Gauge Securing
Wing Nut (2) and insert the Depth
Gauge (18) into the hole at the top of
the auxiliary handle
2. Position the depth gauge so that the
required hole depth is indicated on
the depth gauge scale
3. Tighten the depth gauge securing wing nut to lock the
gauge in position
4. Check the depth with a steel rule for most accurate
measurement
Operating the chuck
• This drill has a chuck designed for SDS Plus drill bits
• The SDS system allows the bit to move within the chuck.
This means that it is unnecessary to tighten the chuck
around the bit
• Always grease the tail end of SDS
bits; use pot of grease supplied. Bits
should be freshly greased and free
from dirt and dust before use
• To insert a drill bit:
1. Pull back the Chuck Collar (1) and
hold
2. Insert an SDS Plus drill bit fully into
the chuck. Use a twisting motion to line up the grooves in
the accessory
3. Release the locking sleeve
4. The bit should now be locked into the machine. Check by
pulling the bit; if the bit can be removed, repeat the above
procedure until secure
• To remove a bit from the chuck, pull the chuck collar back,
and pull firmly on the drill bit
• Be aware that it may not be possible to drill holes to the
same standards of accuracy as with a conventional power
drill. This is due to the small amount of 'slack' required in
the SDS chuck to allow tools to move easily
WARNING: Never fit any attachment with a maximum speed
lower than the no load speed of the machine
Using the dust protector cap
• The Dust Cap (17) can be used to
give added protection against dust
and debris entering the SDS chuck
1. Place the cap over the shank of the
bit and slide it forward until it rests
against the shoulder of the bit
2. Insert the bit into the SDS chuck as
normal
Selecting the required function
The Rotary Hammer Drill has three different modes:
• Rotation only – for drilling into wood and metal
• Rotary hammer – for drilling into
brick, concrete and masonry
• Hammer only – for chiselling brick,
concrete and masonry
