Installation Instructions
1. Mount Rough-In Enclosure using one of the following
methods (mounting hardware is not provided):
a. Surface Mount - Use keyholes shown in Figure 1 with
bolts sufficient for 100 lbs. (45 kg) load (1/4" (M6) bolts
recommended).
b. Recess Mount - Use screws sufficient for 100 lbs. (45
kg) through the corners of the enclosure (see Figure
1). Mount enclosure flush to or not more than 1/8"
(3mm) below the finished wall surface (Enclosure is 3-
7/8" (9.8cm) deep past cover mounting tabs. Enclosure
cover dimensions are 32-1/2" x 15-7/8" (83cm x
40cm)).
Caution - Power supply will hum slightly and inter-
nal relays will click while in use. Mount in a loca-
tion where such noise is acceptable.
Caution - All wiring must be installed in accor-
dance with national and local electrical codes.
Caution - This equipment is air-cooled. Mount in a
location where the vented cover will not be
blocked. 12 inches of clearance in front of the
vents is required.
Danger - Locate and lock supply breaker in the
OFF position before wiring to terminal blocks or
plugging in power cord.
Caution - This equipment is intended for indoor
use only.
2. Run 120V power wiring into the enclosure. Locations
to run power wiring into the enclosure are shown in
Figure 1. Terminal blocks will accept one 18 through 10
AWG (1-2.5mm 2 ) wire or two 18 or 16 AWG (1-1.5mm 2 )
wires (see Figure 2). Tighten terminal blocks to 3.5 to 5
in-lbs. (.40 to .57 Nm). Do not overtighten.
For increased system reliability, HomeWorks Interactive
processors can be powered by an uninterruptible power
supply (UPS) that incorporates surge protection, brown-
out protection, and battery backup. When selecting a
UPS, allow 240VA of capacity for each processor on the
UPS. A single large UPS for all processors is better than
an individual UPS for each processor. This prevents
inconsistent system operation on battery backup if the
individual UPS units power down at different times.
3. If the processor and the accessory boards have not
been installed, leave this instruction sheet in the
enclosure.
4. Install HomeWorks Interactive Processor. Install
processor in location shown in Figure 3 using the screws
installed in the enclosure. Torque mounting screws to 20
in. lbs. (2.26 Nm) max. Connect power cord from the
processor assembly to the plug coming from the terminal
blocks (see Figure 3).
