Always wear SAFETY GLASSES
when installing hitch
1. Remove fascia:
a. Using an M8 socket, remove (2) screws from bottom edge of fascia.
b. Using a T30 torx bit, remove (2) screws from rearward area of wheel well liner, both sides.
c. Using a T30 torx bit, remove (1) screw located behind wheel well liner, both sides.
d. Open tailgate. Using a T25 torx bit, remove (1) screw holding fascia below taillight, both sides.
e. Remove interior access panel behind each taillight to reveal a plastic thumb nut. Remove (2) plastic thumb nuts holding taillight assembly, both sides.
f. Using a plastic trim panel tool, remove the taillights by gently pulling rearward. Disconnect the wire harness from each taillight and set them aside.
g. Using a plastic trim panel tool, remove the fascia starting at the outer edges near wheel wells while gently pulling rearward. Disconnect the wiring harness near
center of fascia, and the wiring harness located on passenger's side behind rear wheel. Set fascia aside.
2. Remove bumper beam – using a 13mm socket, remove (6) flange hex nuts holding the bumper beam to end panel and set aside.
3. Install Hitch and bumper beam – Install hitch and bumper beam onto vehicle aligning holes with (6) existing studs in vehicle end panel. Loosely install the (6)
existing M8 flange hex nuts onto the studs in end panel. See Figure 1.
4. Tighten all M8 CL8.8 fasteners with torque wrench to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N*M)
5. Trim fascia - using a tape measure, marker, and aviation snips, measure, mark, and cut a notch in the bottom center of fascia and heat shield
approximately 2-1/2'' tall by 3-1/4" wide area. See Figure 2.
6.
Reinstall fascia, taillights, interior panels, and wiring using the original fasteners removed in step 1. Be sure to reconnect all wiring to fascia and taillights.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or
ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This
product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
