Description
The weather sensor is an electronic detection device that is connected via ca-
ble to automatic opening systems for rolling shutters, sun blinds and awnings.
Mounting these devices on more or less complex installations will permit the
automatic opening and closing of the roller motor according to predetermined
parameters (set according to the required threshold). The various weather condi-
tions (sun, wind and rain) will be detected by the sensor and the information will
be interpreted by the radio programmer integrated into the motor.
Use
The weather sensor SWS2C is fitted with a wind speed and light intensity detec-
tor and can be expanded by adding the rain detector RN01. Designed to work
with the CARDIN RS9 series of rolling shutter, sun blind and awning rollers (The
sensor can be connected via cable to a maximum of three motors).

Technical description
The appliance is housed in a shock-proof and waterproof container that is fitted
with a practical and secure fasting system with adjustable positioning. The ap-
pliance is pre-wired and is fitted with an extractable and easily accessible, termi-
nal board. The wind speed transmission rotor is mounted on a smooth flowing,
stainless steel bearing with steel ball bearings. Light detection is carried by a
special cone shaped guide which captures the light and selects the luminosity
intensity from the varying light sources.
The appliance can be fitted with an optional rain sensor (RN01) which integrates
perfectly with the standard structure.
Installation (fig. 1)
The sensor SWS2C is directly connected to the roller motor designed to receive
it (RS9 with an integrated radio programmer).
Work out the installation point according to the architectural structure and the
position of the awning that is to be protected. Remember that the sensor needs
to be mounted in a clear position with no obstructions and without excessive
shadow.
• Run the wires through the openings in the anemometer and fasten the base to
the wall (fig. 1a).
• Fasten the sensor to the base and insert the rotating screw "A" (fig. 1b).
• Open the flap using a small screwdriver and wire up the device following the
drawing (fig. 1c).
• Rotate the sensor until it is perfectly level, tighten down the screw "A" and then
close the flap.
Mounting the rain sensor RN01
The optional rain sensor (RN01) requires an external power supply 12Vdc - 100
mA min. that should be connected to the printed circuit binding posts 6 and 7
(fig. 3). :
• Open the terminal board access flap (fig. 1c).
• Using a screwdriver knock out the hole located below the sensor towards the
front (fig. 1d).
• Pass the sensor connection wire through the hole a wire it to the terminal
board (fig. 3).
• Fasten the rain sensor to the anemometer using the supplied screws (fig.
1e).
• Activate the connections following the wiring diagram. Close the access flap.
Function
The appliance has been designed to work with the CARDIN RS9 series roller
motors with integrated electronics and is to be connected directly to the pro-
grammer before starting the programming procedure.
Settings (fig. 3)
The functions have a standard relay intervention time of 4 seconds after the situ-
ation has been detected. The intervention time can be set to a maximum of 10
seconds by inserting the jumper "J1".
Pos "A": Jumper J1 not inserted: intervention time 4 sec.
Pos "B": Jumper J1 inserted: intervention time 10 sec.
Note: The intervention time is the interval between the moment in which the
event is detected and the effective activation of the relay.

WEATHER SENSOR

CODE
SERIES
ZVL438.01
SWS
This product has been tried and tested in the manufacturer's laboratory,
during the installation of the product follow the supplied indications carefully.
Activating the sun-wind-rain functions
• The functions sun-wind-rain can be activated or deactivated using the dip-
switch "D1"
- Dip 1 in position "ON" = "wind" function activated
- Dip 2 in position "ON" = "sun" function activated
- Dip 3 in position "ON" = "rain" function activated
Wind speed threshold
• Using dip-switch "D1" it is possible to set 4 different intervention thresholds
for the "wind" function.
- Dip 4 "OFF" + Dip 5 "OFF" = wind speed 20 km/hour
- Dip 4 "OFF" + Dip 5 "ON" = wind speed 35 km/hour
- Dip 4 "ON" + Dip 5 "OFF" = wind speed 42 km/hour
- Dip 4 "ON" + Dip 5 "ON" = wind speed 50 km/hour
Light intensity threshold
• Using dip-switch "D1" it is possible to set 4 different intervention thresholds
for the "sun" function.
- Dip 6 "OFF" + Dip 7 "OFF" = luminosity 20 klux
- Dip 6 "OFF" + Dip 7 "ON" = luminosity 40 klux
- Dip 6 "ON" + Dip 7 "OFF" = luminosity 60 klux
- Dip 6 "ON" + Dip 7 "ON"
= luminosity 80 klux
Master keyboard commands
• Using the Master keyboard with display MDKRT it is possible to (if dips 1,2,3
on the anemometer have been moved to the "ON" position) activate, deacti-
vate and fine tune (reducing the threshold) the sun-wind-rain functions directly
in the radio programmer via radio.
Wind function
The anemometer continuously monitors the wind speed and evaluates it accord-
ing to the chosen maximum threshold set using dips 4 and 5.
- Wind speed intensity increases: the set threshold is exceeded. Af-
ter a waiting period of 4 seconds the anemometer sends a retraction
command to the radio programmer and the awning begins to close.
• After each wind sensor intervention all commands are disabled for 12 min-
utes.
Sun function
The sun sensors detects intensity of the light and evaluates it according to the
chosen maximum threshold set using dips 6 and 7.
- Sunlight intensity increases: the set threshold is exceeded. After a waiting
period of 4 seconds the anemometer sends an extension command to the
radio programmer and the awning moves to an intermediate opening position
(if the partial opening function has been set in the radio programmer via the
MDKRT) or to a completely extended position (if the partial opening function
has not been set on the radio programmer via the MDKRT).
Indicator LED "L2"
Led "L2" indicates the function status of the device. Led "L2" will flash rapidly
in the first few seconds after the device has been switched on and each time
the sensor is calibrating. In normal working conditions the led will flash every 4
seconds.
