11.
Install a 3/8-in. flat washer (Item 17C) on the assembly, followed by the
cone with button plug (Item 18). Turn assembly over and drop 3/8-in. hex
nut (Item 20) down center hole in cone.
NOTE: Osborne recommends filling the cone with sand or equivelant
material before using the feeder. Weighing the cone prevents it from
unsetting from the axle when feed level in hopper is below cone.
13. Place completed assembly into feeder hopper. Align cone onto axle as-
sembly.
15. Connect cone strap and feed adjustment assembly. Set feed adjustment
assembly to position one (1) and adjust the two nuts so cone rests just
above feed sweep. This will be the lowest setting.
NOTE: Refer to ADJUSTMENT RECOMMENDATIONS below to set the
recommended cone height to start pigs.
To train pigs on the feeder, first set adjustment assembly to 3 or 4 and manually turn the feed wheel until feed begins to flow. Then, manually scoop feed into
the trough and fill for the first use. As the first trough full is eaten, pigs learn through play that the feed wheel dispenses feed. Adjust the cone height as needed.

ADJUSTMENT AND TRAINING RECOMMENDATIONS
Proper adjustment will vary based upon feed grind, moisture content and animal size.
12. Use a screwdriver to hold nut inside cone and tighten onto bolt about four
(4) complete turns. Tighten 3/8-in. jam hex nut against washer on top of
cone. Do not over-tighten.
NOTE: Do not allow bolt to extend into cone. If the bolt extends into cone
too far, the cone assembly will be limited to adjustment.
14. Place feed adjustment assembly (Item 13) onto crossbar with back side
of assembly resting against flat side of crossbar. Install the feed adjust-
ment assembly to crossbar with 5/16 x 7/8-in. bolt and 5/16-in. flange nut.
16. Place bump bar agitators (Items 21) into the two middle holes on the
crossbar. Install washers and nuts. Adjust length of bump bars with the
nut. Use pliers to hold the bump bars in place. When the wheel is turned,
the bump bars should only drag along the hopper bottom about one-
fourth of a full circle.
