BEFORE THE FIRST USE

Remove the plates as directed in the CHANGING THE PLATES section of this manual. Wash the
plates in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Replace the plates in the waffle maker.
Oil the plates using a pastry brush or cloth. This should be done each time that the plates have
been washed with soap.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Place the waffle maker on a hard, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from any edges. Plug
into a 120 v, AC outlet ONLY. Never place the waffle maker on a plastic table cloth or any
other material that is not heat-resistant.
2. Choose desired cooking temperature on the temperature dial, #1 for the lightest
waffles, #8 for the darkest.
3. When the signal light goes out, the waffle maker is preheated and ready for use.
4. Before the first use, after the waffle maker is preheated, carefully use a brush or paper
towel and apply a light coating of cooking oil to the plates. Note: Do not use a baking or
nonstick sprays. Avoid using anything made of nylon or synthetic fibers that may melt
when heated. Use less oil for your second use, and no oil should be needed for subsequent
uses. If you find it difficult to remove a waffle, be sure to apply a light coating of oil during
the following uses.
5. Using Dough: Place a ball of dough (approx. 2-3'' in size) in the center of each of the
sections of the bottom waffle plate. Close the waffle maker and, if necessary, press the two
handles together so the plates touch. The cover may lift slightly due to steam pressure in
the dough. This is normal.
Using Batter: Use a ladle to pour a sufficient amount of batter to cover the entire baking
surface of the bottom plate. Close the waffle maker and turn it over by grasping both
handles firmly and pivoting on its base. This will spread the batter to the other plate.
6. When finished, the color of the waffle should be brown. Light brown means the waffles are
chewy, dark brown are crisp and crusty.
7. To remove waffles after baking, insert our 2-pronged waffle fork (or, if unavailable, a non-
metallic utensil) horizontally into the waffle. Remove the waffle from the plate and serve.
8. When finished making waffles, unplug the waffle maker and allow it to cool completely, in
the open position, before cleaning or putting away.
Note: When using the waffle maker for the first time, a slight odor or smoking may occur. This
is normal, and common to appliances with a nonstick surface.
