important safeguards
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the
following:
• Read all instructions before using your espresso maker "
• Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
• If unit is operated in any manner other than indicated in this manual, it may cause material
damage or personal injuries.
• Do not use outdoors.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for
their safety.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children to ensure they
do not play with the appliance.
• Always use the espresso maker on a dry, level surface to avoid interruption of airflow
underneath the espresso maker.
• Always make sure the espresso maker is completely assembled before operating. The unit will
not turn on unless properly assembled.
• Be certain the removable water reservoir is securely placed on the unit while operating the
appliance.
• Always be sure to place the water reservoir tightly back onto the unit with its lid closed. Fill
with water at or above the minimum line before turning the appliance on.
• DO NOT remove the water reservoir until the unit is turned off and cool.
• Do not use your espresso maker if any part is broken.
• DO NOT remove the portafilter while brewing espresso. Please make sure to push the lever
up to the unlocked position "
Caution should also be taken while removing the portafilter since the metal parts will be hot.
Please make sure to hold it by the handle and to use the filter release button to dispose of the
grounds.
• Do not touch the espresso maker's hot surfaces. Use handles or dials.
• Caution should be taken when moving unit with hot liquids.
• Be sure to turn the unit off "

before cleaning. Allow the espresso maker to cool before putting on or taking off parts and
before cleaning the appliance.
• The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric
shock or injury.
• To protect against the risk of electrical shock, do not immerse power cord, plug or unit in
water or any other liquid.
• Do not place this appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or where it could touch
a heated oven. Always turn the espresso maker off "

• Do not let cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces, including
the stove.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance
malfunctions, is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest
Authorised Service Centre for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment.
