Instructions for use for the MULTIPOWER

without anti-backlash device
MULTIPOWERS are torque multipliers with planetary
gears.
Appliances MP300–2000, MP300–3000 and
MP300–5000 are also equipped with an anti-backlash
device. The appliances are used to tighten and loosen
screw connections, and thanks to their simple
operation they are ideally suited for high torques.
4 points that you should note before using your
MULTIPOWER:
1. Never use the MULTIPOWER with impact
wrenches.
2. Pay attention to the maximum input capacity of
your MULTIPOWER. It must never be exceeded.
3. Pay attention to the torque tightening instruction
and then select the right torque wrench.
4. If possible use only torque wrenches with ratchet.
Before each use, check the output square drive as
to possible damage done during previous use.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Connect the reaction anchor to the gearbox casing.
Make sure that the locking pin snaps into the
anchor (in confined spaces the device can also be
used without the reaction anchor).
2. Fix the correct socket to the MULTIPOWER and
place the device over the screw that is to be
tightened or loosened.
3. In the case of appliances MP300–2000,
MP300–3000 and MP300–5000 set the desired
working direction by switching over the pawl for the
anti-backlash device.
4. Place the reaction anchor against a stable stopper.
Make sure that the rotation direction of the support
arm is opposite to the rotation direction of the
driving tool (torque wrench). Consider that the
power at the reaction anchor nearly corresponds to
the output torque. Therefore make sure that the
stopper for the reaction anchor is appropriately
stable and secure.

5. Using the attached torque wrench now tighten until
the desired input torque is obtained. Hold either
MULTIPOWER nor the reaction anchor. Due to
the force resulting there, there is danger of injury,
e.g. your fingers could get pinched.
6. In the case of appliances MP300–2000,
MP300–3000 and MP300–5000 the selector pawl
for the anti-backlash device must be switched over
at the end to the tightening process. To do this, the
MULTIPOWER is loaded briefly in the working
direction – the selector pawl is free – then carefully
relax input torque.
7. The MULTIPOWER appliances can also be driven
with a power driver. In the case of appliances
MP300–2000, MP300–3000 and MP300–5000 the
selector pawl for the anti-backlash device is set to
"neutral". Turn the pawl to the centre. When using
power drivers make absolutely sure that the
maximum input capacity of the MULTIPOWER is
not exceeded.
LOOSENING
SCREW CONNECTIONS
The same procedure used for tightening screw
connections applies to loosening screw connections.
To protect the planetary gear we also recommend
using only STAHLWILLE torque wrenches.
1. Adjust the maximum input torque of your
MULTIPOWER to the torque wrench.
2. Insert the torque wrench as if turning to left (turn
inserted ratchet 180° respectively in the case of
firmly mounted ratchets press through the inserted
square drive).
3. This allows you to loosen screws easily without
overloading MULTIPOWER.
4. The device is equipped with overload protection in
the gearbox as a protective measure against over-
loading. One overload cutout is included with each
MULTIPOWER unit as a spare. This component
can be replaced by the end users themselves (refer
to repair instructions).
REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS
How to replace the overload cutout on MP300–800
Tools required:
Two small slotted screwdrivers – e.g. STAHLWILLE
No 4820 or No 4628
Procedure:
– Remove lock washer
– remove lid
– extract all the components making up the faulty
rated breakpoint (sun wheel) and replace with spares
– reposition cover and refit lock washer.
