Material too thick
Material too thin
Incorrect triggering procedure
Turning wrist while spraying
Spraying too much material too close to
paper
Allowing needle to snap back into tip
Arcing arm too close to work surface
Spray regulator tightened too tightly in
head
a. Spray regulator opened too far
b. Metal cup clogged
a. Residue on needle or in metal cup
b. Material too thick
Corrective action
a. Add water or proper solvent sparingly to material
b. Check needle and tip for dried material
c. Adjust air supply; then test for proper spray
a. Add material to thicken mixture
b. Airbrush less heavily in one area
c. Move air brush more rapidly or lessen amount of spray
Follow triggering technique described in "Triggering Exer-
cises" section
Always move arm parallel to work surface
a. Lightly pull back on finger lever
b. Hold brush further away from work surface
a. Release lever gently
b. Check needle and tip for dried paint
Always move arm parallel to work surface
Open head one or two turns
a. Tighten spray regulator
b. Clean metal cup with solvent or clear water
a. Clean needle or metal cup with proper solvent or clear
water
b. Thin material with proper solvent or clear water
