SAFETY

Read and carefully observe these operating instructions
before unpacking and operating the Air Grease Gun. The gun
must be operated, maintained and repaired exclusively by a
person familiar with the operation instructions. Operate the
gun only after safety instructions and this operation manual
are fully understood.
Extreme pressure may cause whip hose to burst.
Use only LINCOLN APPROVED hoses and follow the hose
instructions and warnings.
Grease gun can develop high pressure - up to 6,000 Psig
(414 Bar). Use safety glasses and gloves for protection
during operation. Keep hands clear of the exposed rubber
portion of hose.
This grease gun generates high grease pressure. Extreme
caution should be used when operating the gun as material
leaks from loose and ruptured components can inject fluid
through the skin and into the body causing serious bodily
injury. Adequate protection is recommended to prevent splash-
ing of material onto the skin or into the eyes.
If any fluid appears to penetrate the skin, get emergency
medical immediately. Do not treat as a simple cut. Tell at-
tending physician exactly what fluid was injected.

PERSONAL SAFETY

1. Always wear eye protection. The Air Grease Gun can
generate up to 6,000 Psig (414 Bar)
2. Use only Lincoln P/N 1218, 1224, 1230 or 1236 outlet
whip hoses. Grease injection injuries are a very serious
injury. Hold the hose only in the area of the spring guard.
3. Avoid accidental starting. Be sure trigger is not
depressed when attaching inlet air hose.
4. Do not bend the hose in small radii.
5. Replace the hose at the first sign of wear, kink or
damage to the outside jacket.

QUICK START INSTRUCTIONS©

1. Attach high pressure grease hose and coupler, (1) to outlet
in the head (5). Copper gasket must be used to seal hose
thread to head. Tighten securely.
2. Attach air coupler nipple (21) to port in bottom of handle (6)
and tighten securely.
3. Fill grease container (See appropriate section of manual for
various options).
4. Prime grease gun by operating slowly until grease flows from
coupler (2). See Operation section for detailed priming proce-
dure.
5. Adjust air pressure to grease gun as required, and gun is now
ready for use.
6. Disconnect air supply to grease gun when not in use.

DESCRIPTION

Lincoln Air Operated Grease Gun is fully pneumatic
operational and automatic unit. The gun was developed for
manual lubrication of the grease points and has ability to stall in
case of a blocked bearing, fitting or lubrication line. The gun is a
positive displacement single action pump that delivers lubricant
each time the plunger (13) moves forward.
©
The gun features a throttling trigger valve. A slight pull of the
trigger (8) will cause the gun to operate slowly. As more finger
force is applied to the trigger, the speed of the gun will gradually
increase until maximum speed is reached with the trigger fully
pulled. The maximum speed of the gun is limited to reduce the
problems associated with dispensing lubricant too quickly, such
as damaging bearing seals or dust boots.
The gun operates when the trigger (8) is depressed. Air is admit-
ted to Chamber A (see Fig 1.) and pushes the piston (7) with the
plunger (13) to the left. Vent valve B is closed. The grease, under
pressure from plunger (13), opens the check valve (3) and deliv-
ers one shot of the lubricant.
When the piston (7) reaches the bypass groove C (see Fig. 2) air
is admitted into chamber D and opens the vent valve B. The air
pressure from chamber A is vented through valve B and vent
holes E to the chamber F which communicates with the atmo-
sphere through the hole G. The air pressure is equalized on both
sides of the piston (7) and the force of the spring (12) will return
the piston to the initial position, recharging the gun (see Fig 1).
Vent valve B will be closed and air from chamber D is vented
through the bypass groove C to the atmosphere. The cycle
repeats in the same manner while the trigger is depressed.
