How a movement detector works
Movement detectors are electronic devices turning on and off. They are equipped with a lens recording thermal
radiation. When the origin of this thermal radiation changes its location or starts moving, the movement
detector activates the integrated halogen floodlight projector for an adjustable time. The starting time begins
when the origin to the thermal radiation stops moving.
The movement detector works at daylight as well as at night. By turning a switch, one can adjust directly the
brightness from which the movement detector activates the halogen floodlight projector.
How to adjust your movement detector
The switching duration can be adjusted with the timer switch (TIME) directly for a duration between 5 seconds
approx. and 8 minutes approx.
The brightness (DAYLIGHT) when the device turns on and off can be adjusted between 3 lux approx. (dark)
and 1000 lux approx. (bright).
The detection range of the halogen floodlight projector can be changed by 40° horizontally and by 50°
vertically.
How to install the halogen floodlight projector with movement detector
The halogen floodlight projector with movement detector has to be fixed tightly to the wall. Vibrations will have
the same effects like thermal movement within the detection range.
About the location for installation
1. The space which you want to be detected has to be reached by the beams of the movement detector
(see pictures regarding the detection range as well).
2. The visibility of the space which you want to be detected should no be jammed with objects as the
infrared beams cannot go through solid objects.
3. The halogen floodlight projector has to be protected against rain, heavy wind and direct sunlight.
4. The detection range should be small. The bigger the range the higher the probability of incorrect switching.
You can limit the detection range by using non-transparent material (adhesive tape, for example).
The detection range should be at a 90° angle with the movement direction of objects
(see Pictures L and M). When an objects hits the detection range, a maximum of beams will bet touched.
