5. Turn bowl into the filter body until arrowhead is in line with or to the right of the
arrowhead on the body before pressurizing.
6. The filter must be installed in such a way that no mechanical force or tension occurs.
7. It is suggested that a Speedaire air line filter with a 5 μm element upstream of the
coalescing filter to obtain the maximum element service life.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (See Figure 2)
1. Let the filter run with air supply on. Ensure that the pressure to the air inlet of the filter
from air line does not exceed the maximum pressure specified in the instructions.
2. The filter is equipped with a manual drain. Turn the manual drain valve to drain
accumulated liquids inside the bowl. Take care to drain the liquids from the bowl
whenever necessary and always keep the liquids below the filter element.
3. The filter element should be replaced when the pressure differential across the
element exceeds 15 psi. The mechanical service indicator shows approximately full
red when the pressure drop across the element reaches 10 psi. When an excessive
pressure drop across a saturated but uncontaminated element occurs, it may indicate
that the tool being operated exceeds the maximum flow rate (CFM) of the filter (See
Specifications). Refer to the maximum flow rate of your filter and make sure that the
required CFM of the tool is within the maximum flow rate of your filter for best tool
operation.

MAINTENANCE
Maintenance Steps
1
disassembly (See figure 2)
• Filter can be disassembled without removal from air line.
• Shut OFF inlet pressure. Reduce pressure in inlet and outlet lines to zero.
• Unscrew bowl.
• Disassemble in general accordance with the parts illustrated in Figure 2. Do not
remove the drains or the service indicators unless replacement is necessary.
Remove and replace only when they malfunction or converting to automatic
drain.
2
cleaning(See figure 2)
• Element cannot be cleaned. Do not submerge electrical service indicator in
water. Clean indicator with dry, clean cloth. Clean other parts with warm water
and soap.
• Rinse and dry parts. Blow out internal passages in body with clean, dry,
compressed air.
• Inspect parts. Replace those found to be damaged.
3
assembly (See figure 2)
• Lubricate O-rings, the portion of the manual drain body that contacts the bowl,
and the hole in the manual drain body that accommodates the stem of the
drain valve with O-ring grease.
• Assemble filter as shown in Figure 2. Arrows on indicator and body must point
in the same direction.
• Assemble sight glass kit (Ref. No.6) to bowl. Apply a 2 to 4 pound clamping
force to upper and lower sight glass bracket to pull brackets together, then
tighten screws per torque table.
• Torque the parts listed in Torque Table.
• Turn bowl into body until arrowhead is in line with or to the right of the
arrowhead on body.
