2. Introduction and Installation
The ModeMiser saves telephone-line charges by
dropping the telephone-line connection when the
data line is idle.
All you have to do is install the ModeMiser in the
data line between a computer's serial (RS-232) port
and a modem. Use a standard RS-232 data cable—
the same cable you'd use to connect your computer
directly to your modem. Once the ModeMiser is
installed, its timer forces the modem to drop the
telephone line when the data line is idle.
The ModeMiser saves money anywhere a modem
is on line without data for significant periods of time.
