Section 1: Safety

For your own safety:

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE OWNER'S MANUAL BEFORE USING
YOUR ASPEN RECURVE BOW.
Recurve bows—including the Aspen—are intended for hunting and target shooting. If used incorrectly or
carelessly, they can injure or kill you and those around you. We want you to take your best shot—and only
your best shot. BE CAREFUL—SHOOT SAFELY!
If this is your first CenterPoint recurve bow, you may welcome some extra guidance before you first cock,
load, or fire your Aspen. If you have any questions or concerns about this product, its proper assembly, or
safe use, please contact us via centerpointarchery.com/contact-support. Our customer service experts are
available Monday through Friday, from 9AM to 4:30PM CST, and we're happy to help you.
Please do not skip reading this page. The following rules are
essential for safe recurve bow use and maintenance.
ALWAYS treat the bow as though it is loaded and ready to fire.
ALWAYS treat the bow with the same respect you would a firearm.
ALWAYS store the bow unloaded and away from children.
ALWAYS keep the bow pointed in a SAFE DIRECTION.
NEVER draw the bow until you are ready to shoot.
ALWAYS be sure of your target and what is beyond your target before shooting any archery product.
ALWAYS check your archery backstop for wear before and after such use. All target backstops are
subject to wear and will eventually fail. Replace your target backstop if the surface is worn or damaged.
NEVER draw or load the bow until you are ready to shoot.
NEVER point the bow at any person.
NEVER point the bow at anything you do not intend to shoot.
ALWAYS check the bow, bow parts, and bow accessories thoroughly for worn, damaged,
loose, misaligned, or missing parts prior to shooting. Replace components as needed.
ALWAYS inspect your arrows, field points, or broadheads regularly. Damaged arrows, field
points, and broadheads may cause serious injury. Any nicked, dented, split, splintered,
or damaged arrows, field points, or broadheads should be discarded immediately.
ALWAYS keep hands, fingers and thumbs out of the travel path of the bowstring.
ALWAYS be sure the bow limbs are clear from striking tree limbs and other obstacles before shooting.
ALWAYS wear safety glasses with any type of archery product.
NEVER dry fire the bow. Dry fire is shooting the bow without an arrow nocked on the string. This
situation will cause damage to your bow and could cause injury to the shooter.
NEVER use underweight arrows. This has the same effect as dry firing a bow and may cause damage to the bow and injury to the shooter.
NEVER shoot any projectile in the bow except for arrows recommended by CenterPoint Archery for the specific
bow. Shooting other than recommended arrows could result in injury or damage to the Bow.
NEVER draw your bow beyond the maximum draw length; drawing beyond the maximum draw length may cause damage to the limbs, and/or strings.
NEVER tamper with the bow. Special tools are required for working on the bow. Contact an established archery shop for assistance. Using anything
other than an established archery shop or modifying the function of the bow in any way may render the bow unsafe and will void the warranty.

Section 2: Assembling Your Aspen
Please visit centerpointarchery.com/aspen#dm to find a helpful video that walks you
through assembling the Aspen, step-by-step.
INSTALLING THE LIMBS
Insert the Top limb to the limb pocket and tighten the limb bolt completely. NOTE: Top limb has the Aspen logo.
Insert the Bottom limb into the bottom limb pocket and tighten the limb bolt completely. NOTE: Bottom Limb has the
Center Point Archery logo.
STRINGING YOUR ASPEN RECURVE BOW
IMPORTANT:
We recommend to always use a commercial bow stringer (included) when stringing and unstringing any
bow to avoid potential physical danger to yourself and your bow's limbs. The "Step Through" method of stringing your bow
IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
1.
Orient your bow string so that the larger loop (Fig. 1) is positioned over the top limb tip and place it down over the
limb. (Fig. 2)
2.
Slide the bottom, smaller loop over the bottom limb tip and secure it in the string groove.
Using the included recurve bow stringer, slide the enclosed large end over the Bottom Limb Tip, and small end over the
Top Limb. (Fig. 3) (This may vary by model of the recurve bow stringer you choose, always follow written instructions
from the bow stringer manufacture).
Place one foot on the Bow Stringer rope and with one hand pull the riser of the bow towards you and use the other
hand to slide the large loop on the bow string onto the top string grove. (Fig. 4)
Slowly reduce tension of the Recurve Bow Stringer rope by lowering the riser towards the ground. Your recurve bow
is now strung and you are ready to continue the set up process. Reverse this process to unstring your Aspen Recurve
Bow.
ATTACHING THE REST
Affix the included rest to the riser , above the shelf as shown in Photo (Fig. 5)
CHECKING BRACE HEIGHT AND NOCK POINT INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT:
We encourage you to use a "T-Square" for both measuring brace height and for proper installation of your
string nock. These can be found at most Archery Pro Shops and Major Archery retailers.
Brace Height is defined as the measurement from the throat of the grip to the bow string. This measurement may change
over time due to the string stretching, it is recommended that you periodically check this and adjust as necessary.
If the brace height of your bow is too low, the feathers (fletching) will hit the shelf before the nock has the ability to leaves
the string. The arrow, stays attached to the string past the brace height measurement for a slight distance before coming
completely free of the string. Feathers/fletching coming into contact with the shelf will create havoc with arrow flight.
Incorrect brace heights along with improper grip, could impart "string slap" on your wrist and forearm.
Proper brace height allows the bow to function correctly, harnessing and helping to transfer the energy created to propel
the arrow down range.
Adjust brace height for the bow's "sweet spot" if necessary, Your Aspen Recurve Bow has a recommended brace height of
7.5"-8.25".
Adding a few twist to the string will shorten the string which will increase the brace height. While removing twists will
lengthen the string resulting in a lower brace height.
NOCK POINT INSTALLATION
Once you have your preferred brace height set you need to install a nocking point on the string. A nocking point allows you
to nock your arrow at the same place on the string every time. The most common Nock is a brass crimp-on nock sets.
String material may be used to tie in a nocking point as well if so desired.
When installing the brass nocking point you'll need a set of nocking pliers and the brass nock included.
Brass nocks are easily installed and easy to move. Crimp the brass nock point just enough to keep it in place until you
locate you're desired nock point. Once you have the nock location set correctly firmly crimp the nock in place. (Fig. 6)
Your arrow is to be nocked on the string under the brass nock. If arrow flight is acceptable then your all set.
