• Code requirements for the electrical connection differ
from state to state. Install equipment in accordance
with the current National Electrical Code (NEC) and
all applicable local codes and ordinances.
• Before servicing the pump, switch OFF the pump
by disconnecting the main circuit to the pump.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) of reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge.
NOTICE: Port threads internally are: 2 in. NPT
for direct connection to pipe; externally, they
are 3-1/4 in. buttress. For quick disconnect pipe
connections, use the 1-1/2 in. quick connect half
unions (AA) included with the pump. See Figure
1. Only qualified, licensed personnel should install
pump and wiring.
NOTICE: When connecting threaded pipe directly
to pump, use PTFE pipe thread sealant tape
(not included) to seal connections. Do not use
pipe dope because it causes cracking in some
plastics and may damage components in piping
system. When connecting pipe to pump with quick
connect half union (AA), follow glue manufacturer's
instructions regarding ventilation and fire hazards.
Union collar connections to pump should be
assembled dry and hand-tightened.
NOTICE: Pump suction and discharge connections
have molded in thread stops. DO NOT screw pipe
in beyond these stops.
Pipe thread sealant tape (PTFE) instructions:
• Use only new or clean PVC pipe fittings.
• Wrap male pipe threads with one to two layers of
PTFE tape. Cover entire threaded portion of pipe.
• Do not overtighten or tighten past thread stop in
pump port.
• If leaks occur, remove pipe, clean off existing
tape, rewrap with one to two additional layers of
tape and redo the connection.
