About the GN 4170
The GN 4170 is an integrated headset telephone solution. The GN 4170 gives you
hands-free convenience and enhanced sound quality for your telephone conversations.
Assembling and Connecting
Assembling and connecting the telephone:
1. Connect the Telephone Line Cord (9) to the Telephone
Line In socket (M) and the other end to your telephone
line socket in the wall.
2. Attach the headset stand (2) to the telephone.
3. Plug the headset (3) into the telephone's headset socket (N).
Setting Up for Use
1. Set the Ringer Volume Control (I) to your preferred setting:
top position sets ring to "hi", middle position sets ring to
"low", bottom position sets ring "off".
2. The Dial Mode Switches (J) on the bottom of the GN 4170 have
been preset at the factory to match the most common phone
network standards in Europe and Asia, so you should not need
to adjust. After setup and evaluation, if you find your local phone
network requires a different dial mode or flash time, please consult
the switch setting table posted at the following internet address:
www.gnnetcom.dk/europe/gn4170setup.
Making and Answering Calls
1. Put the headset on and press the On/Off Button (A) to
place or answer a call. The On/Off Button is lit when On.
2. While on a call, set the Receiver Volume Control (D)
so you can hear the other party clearly.
3. Set the Bass/Treble Tone Control C to your preferred setting.
4. Press the Mute Button (F) to temporarily turn off
the transmission of your voice while on a call.
The On/Off Button flashes when Mute is on. Press
the Mute Button again to resume voice transmission.
5. To end the call, press the On/Off Button (A) again.
