Note: Special tools are required for injector removal and
installation of Teflon seal. Please refer to service repair manual
for further details.
Warning: Follow manufacturer's recommendations to relieve
fuel pressure before disassembly. Failure to do so may result
in personal injury. Fuel Injector Seals Installation Procedure:
(See Figure 1 for Illustration)
1. Before removing the fuel injector rail assemblies from
cylinder head. Make sure that any dirt or foreign material has
been removed from that general surrounding area.
2. Refer to service manual procedures on removal of fuel
injector rail assemblies.
Note: Do not remove the wiring harness from the fuel rail,
but disconnect the connectors from the injectors.
Note: An extractor removal tool is required to remove stuck
injectors out of their pockets.
3. Inspect inlet stopper on injector to see if it is intact and
undamaged. Discard if it is found to be damaged or comes
off as it is not necessary for proper function.

4. Ensure injector alignment ring is intact and not left in the
injector pocket. If it is missing, new injector will be required.
5. Remove and discard worn injector o-ring, seals and clips.
6. Install new upper o-ring. Note: O-rings are pre-lubricated,
no additional lubrication is needed.
7. Install new plastic support ring seal below the upper
o-ring. Make sure that the concave or narrow side is facing
down when installing. The seal is a split ring type, so it can
allow to slide over the injector inlet tube.
8. Install the new clip on the fuel injector.
9. Using a special tool, install the new Teflon seal.
Note: Teflon seal does not need to be lubricated for it to
be installed.
10. Install injectors back on to the fuel rail. Refer to service
manual for proper procedures.
11. Reinstall fuel rail assemblies on cylinder head. Refer
to service manual for proper torque specification and
installation procedures.
Note: Use new fuel injector rail bolts for the F150 only.
