DESCRIPTION
Modulated infrared barrier consisting of a projector and a receiver.
The equipment is housed in a shockproof and waterproof plastic
casing.
The lenses can be adjusted through 180° horizontally and plus or
minus 30° vertically. These adjustments permit lateral fitting and
installations where the projector and receiver are at different heights
(see detail D, fig. 3).
USE
The infrared barrier constitutes an efficient safety system for the
protection of passageways or spaces which are equipped with
remote controlled automatic door or gate systems.
It is suitable for systems which have a passing room of not more
than 10 metres.
The use and installation of these devices must respect the safety
standards and regulations in force. The manufacturer accepts
no liability for damage caused by, or situations arising from, the
improper use of these appliances.
VERSIONS
CDR863: The package contains the following components:
- 1 Projector in a shockproof container
- 1 Receiver in a shockproof container
- Set of screws
- Set of sealing gaskets

GaAIAs (Galium Arsenate) diode with continuous modulation at
4,7 kHz.
- Infrared emission wavelength: 950 nm.
- Power supply: 12/24 Vac/dc.
- Maximum commutable power of relay with resistive load:
24 W in dc / 60 VA in ac; Max. voltage 30 Vac/dc
- Contact output: C-NO-NC; double relay with serial exchange.
- Power input:
12 Vac/dc: 65 mA for the projector, 23 mA for the receiver
24 Vac/dc: 68 mA for the projector, 29 mA for the receiver
- Operating temperature: -10...+55°C;
- Red led indicating that the projector is receiving power;
- Red led (photocells out of alignment or the beam is interrupted)
on the receiver;
- Test point (for fine tuning) on the receiver;
- Adjustable lens on self lubricating and self locking ball joint;
- Range: 10 m under all weather conditions such as thick, fog, rain,
dust etc.
- Protection grade IP55.
INSTALLATION
The projector and receiver are normally positioned frontally on the
same geometrical axis and at the same height from the ground.
In cases where the installation consists of more than one device
the following must be taken into account:
Two receivers installed on the same side can be operated by one
single projector on the opposite side without compromising the
correct functioning of the system.
If this situation occurs unintentionally (i.e. two receivers installed
on one side and a projector, which has to operate only one of the
receivers, on the other side) then care must be taken to maintain
the correct distance between the projectors and the receivers
(minimum 600 mm).

This product has been tried and tested in the manufacturer's
laboratory, during the installation of the product follow the sup-
plied indications carefully.
SURFACE mOUNTED INSTALLATIONS
Installation is possible on all types of structure. Other than the
standard aligned positioning the device can also be positioned
both laterally (moving the device out of the passageway) and at
different heights in order to solve problems posed by different
structures ( detail a-b-c-d, fig. 3)
• To correctly install the device proceed as follows:
Attention! The electronic card must never be removed from
its support base.
- to open and close the container carefully follow the sequence
shown in fig. 2;
- choose the points at which the devices are to be surface
mounted, according to the requirements of the system;
- work out the run of the cables from the structure to the point of
connection;
- using the template supplied with the package trace the posi-
tioning holes ("D" fig. 5);
- fasten the base and relative sealing gasket to the wall ("A",
fig. 5), making sure that you use the washer supplied with the
package, and pass the wiring through the hole "b";
- carry out the electrical connection;
- align the projector and the receiver by rotating the optic and
check that the optic lock nut is well tightened (fig. 6);
- replace the infrared cover by placing it against the lower seal
and rotating it until you hear the click meaning the holding teeth
have locked the cover (see "A" fig. 2);
- to close the infrared cover only use the two screws that are
housed, separately in the upper compartment of the bag of
screws (see detail "1" fig. 2").
ADjUSTmENT AND FINE TUNINg (fig. 4)
- Activate the system and check that it works correctly.
If the structure is irregular then it is recommended that the elec-
trical functioning be controlled before fixing the appliance.
After having fixed the projector, connect the receiver and pro-
ceed as follows:
When the projector and receiver are activated the projector
LED will remain permanently lit; the receiver LED will be off if
the photoelectric cell is centred (system activated) and lit if the
cell is off centre.
- Always check that the photoelectric cells are centred during the
installation phase proceeding as follows:
1) Insert the probes of a normal tester (lowest setting 2 Vdc) into
the test point maintaining the correct polarity as indicated on
the p.c.b card.
2) Proceed with the measurement using the tester. A signal devia-
tion equal to 0,95 Vdc is to be considered optimal.
Should the tester register a greater deviation this can be cor-
rected by rotating the lens until the voltage reading is correct.
If for some reason, due to the type of installation, you are unable
to obtain the indicated value it would be better to increase the
value slightly but make sure you remain under the maximum
threshold of 1 Vdc.
Note: No fixed object should be located between the receiver
and the projector.
If ulterior shock-proof protection, which interferes with the infrared
beam, is to be fitted we advise you to consult one of our techni-
cians.
