The welding mask comes ready for use.
The only thing you need to do is to adjust
the comfortable headband. When the arc
is struck the shade cartridge ESAB Eye-
Tech automatically darkens.
Before Welding
• Check that the front cover lens and
the front lens frame are securely in
place.
• Select the shade level you need for
your cartridge setting by the poten-
tiometer knob (see Shade Table).
• Adjust headband so that the mask is
seated on the head as low as possi-
ble and near to your face. Adjust
mask angle when in the lowered
position by turning the eccentric
knob.
Special Features
• Eyes are always protected against
ultraviolet and infrared rays, regard-
less of the shade level.
• The switching time of the shade car-
tridge from dark to light can be adju-
sted manually. By the means of an off
delay knob the opening time can be
adjusted to fast or slow. Before wel-
ding adjust your delay time accor-
ding to your welding process. In
order to protect the eyes against the
residual light of the afterglow of work
materials the fastest opening time is
set at 0.1 seconds.
• You can readjust shading during wel-
ding by changing the setting of the
potentiometer knob.
• No battery changing is needed due to
solar cell operation.
Important Note
• The ESAB Eye-Tech shade cartridge is not
suitable for laser and gas-welding.
• Mask and cartridge must never be
placed on hot surfaces.
• Never open or tamper with the shade
cartridge.
• Always use only ESAB original parts.
Precautionary Measures
• Use only at temperatures between -
–10°C and +70°C (14°F and 158°F)
• Protect cartridge from liquid and dirt
contact
• Clean cartridge surfaces regularly; do
not use strong cleaning solutions.
• Always keep sensors and solar cells
clean using an alcohol-dampened
cloth to clean, and a clean, lint-free
cloth to dry.
• Regularly replace the protective len-
ses with ESAB originals
• Do not leave the workplace with the
mask the lowered in position; a bright
light source could cause the cartridge
to darken unexpectedly.
Possible faults and correction
Irregular darkening dimming
• Headband has been set unevenly on
the two sides of the mask (unequal
distances from the eyes to the shade
cartridge).
• Reduce distance of shade cartridge, if
necessary
