Replacement of the power transmission belt
Remove the protection of the power transmission belt (II). Lift the edge of the belt with a wide and plane screwdriver close to the
smaller pulley, while simultaneously turning the belt with the bigger pulley (III), until the belt has come off the smaller pulley.
Install a new belt on the bigger pulley and make sure the wedges at the internal side of the belt are aligned with the grooves of the
pulley. Placing the belt on the smaller pulley, simultaneously turn the belt with the bigger pulley, until the belt has been placed on
the smaller pulley. Make sure all the wedges at the internal side of the belt are aligned with the grooves of the pulleys (IV).
Installation and replacement of knives
Before any replacement of knives, it is recommended to remove the protection of the power transmission belt (II), which will make
operation involving the drum easier, during installation of the knife. The knives must be dismantled individually, which will permit
to maintain the correct installation.
In order to remove the knife, it is required to tighten the bolts fixing the holder of the knife (V). Remove the holder (VI), and then
remove the knife from the holder (VII). Clean thoroughly the place of installation of the knife, the knife itself and all the holding
elements of the dust generated during operation, using for example a sift brush.
Insert the new knife into the holder. The knife has a notch which ensures the correct direction of installation of the knife. Then insert
the holder into the slot of the drum. Observe at the same time the correct direction of installation, rotate the drum and install the
holder with the knife in the same manner as the other knives are installed. Alternatively screwing out the bolts fixing the holder of
the knife, lock the holder with the knife in the slot of the drum.
The holder of the knife has bolts which permit to level the knife. The holders have been levelled in factory and any adjustments
must be realised only if unequal wear of the knife has been observed. The edge of the holder of the knife must be parallel to the
slot of the drum (VIII).
The same operation must be repeated for all the remaining knives. It is always required to replace the whole set of knives. Rotate
the drum with the knives previously installed by a couple complete turns in one direction and the other and make sure the knives
or the fixing elements do not touch the tool.
Install the protection of the power transmission belt.
Attention! It is prohibited to use the plane if the protection of the power transmission belt is not installed.
PREPARATION FOR WORK
Before work make sure the body and the cord with plug are not damaged.
In case any damage is detected it is prohibited to operate the tool.
Attention! All the activities related to replacement of the knives, the transmission belt, installation of the guards and
guides, adjustments, etc. must be carried out with the power off, so first: Remove the plug of the cord of the grinder
from the socket!
Before first operation of the plane, check the adjustments and installation of the knives and the knife shaft.
Adjustments of the depth of planing (IX)
Adjust the required planing depth, turning the planing depth adjustment knob. The setting may be read out from the scale around
the knob.
Extracting of shavings
During operation it is always required to use an external dust extraction system. Using an external dust extraction system in-
creases the efficiency and safety of operation.
The plane permits connection of an external dust extraction system at both sides of the body. Use a wide and plane screwdriver to
press carefully the ferrule clamp, and then remove it (X). Then remove the guide and if necessary clean it as well as the interior of
its socket. Insert the guide (XI) so as it is possible to connect the ferrule at the required side. Draw the ferrule over the guide and
make sure it has been fastened, so that it does not come off accidentally during operation.
Connect the end of the external dust extraction system to the ferrule, so that it does not obstruct any activities during operation of
the tool and does not block the sight of the working area.
Installation of the guide
The guide permits to move the plane parallel to the edge of the surface being processed.
Tighten the connector of the guide (XII) at the left or the right side of the body. Connect the guide to the connector (XIII). Adjust-
ments of the position of the guide are possible loosening the knob, positioning the guide and then tightening the knob again.
OPERATION OF THE TOOL
ATTENTION! During work with the plane it is required to always wear hearing protectors and eye protectors.
