User of the roamer
The roamer serves to describe the position of a point on a map for
another user of the map.
General rules:
Regardless of the map`s scale, the spacing between the grid lines and
the writing, consider the following rules when using the roamer:
"Right-hand value" is the distance from the point of a vertical grid
line to the right, top value is the distance from a horizontal grid line
upward.
Use of the roamer: vertical grid line 37, from here to the right; horizontal
grid line 04, from here upward.
Always measure and state first the right-hand value, then the top
value.
Take the number of the vertical grid line from the upper or lower
frame of the map and that of the horizontal grid line from the left or
right border.
Example: Geographical indication
with 2 number rows, right-hand
value 527 700, top value 5396 450.
The
smaller
beginning indicate the meridian line,
if required; the are followed by the
number of the grid line and, finally,
by the distance in meters.
Example for point A in meters:
E 527 000 + 700 = 527 700 ; N 5396 000 + 450 = 5396 450
The right-hand value can also be designated by an E (East) or a y; and
the top-value by a N (NORTH) or x.
