such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate
conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the O-position before connecting to
power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the appliance.
Carrying appliances with your finger on the switch or energising appliances that have the switch
on invites accidents.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control
of the appliance in unexpected situations.
Appliance use and care
a) Use the correct appliance for your application. The correct appliance will do the job better and
safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the appliance if the switch does not turn it ON and OFF. Any appliance that
cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the appliance
before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing appliances. Such
preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the appliance accidentally.
d) Store idle appliances out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar
with the appliance or these instructions to operate the appliance

WARNING: This appliance must be placed on its stand when not in use
WARNING: Do not hang the soldering iron vertically during use. This will cause heat to
rise, which could make the handle too hot to touch and in extreme circumstances soften or melt
the handle. Allowing the iron to hang down will also place additional strain on the power cable
mounting.
WARNING: Only use soldering iron stands suitable for the wattage of your soldering iron. Do
not use high wattage irons with light small soldering iron stands.
IMPORTANT: Use soldering irons safely. Use promptly when the soldering iron has reached the
required temperature and switch off immediately after use.
• Soldering appliances become extremely hot during use. Do not touch any part of the appliance
other than the handle
• Switch off and allow the appliance to cool completely before attempting to change any fittings
• Do not leave this appliance unattended whilst hot
• Heat may be conducted to hidden areas or materials near to the work area. Ensure that there are
no flammable materials in the vicinity of the work area
• Residual heat may cause waste material to ignite, even after the appliance has been
disconnected from the power supply
• Never use these appliances near any kind of fuel tank or gas cylinder
• Soldering with certain materials may result in toxic fumes. Always allow adequate ventilation. Do
not use in confined spaces
• Some types of solder may contain high proportions of lead. Molten lead emits toxic fumes,
always wear good quality appropriate breathing protection
• Lead fumes are especially toxic to children, pregnant women and people with high blood
pressure. People at high risk should not be allowed near to the work area

Intended Use

Electrical soldering iron, featuring a 5–48W variable power output. Suitable for precision use, and
more general electrical soldering. Complete with soldering station, stand, tip and sponge.
Unpacking Your Product
• Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Fully familiarise yourself with all its features and
functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing or
damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool

Before Use
WARNING: Ensure the appliance is disconnected from the power supply before attaching or
changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.
Assembly
1. Insert the Stand (4) into the slot in the Base Unit (1)
2. Place the Cleaning Pad (8) in the tray of the Base Unit and add a little water to the Pad (the pad
should be damp)
3. Sit the iron in the Stand, with the Tip (5) pointing downward
Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing protection, as well
as suitable gloves, when working with this appliance.
Switching ON & OFF
• The ON/OFF Switch (3) is located at the front of the Base Unit (1), to turn the soldering station
'ON' , set the ON/OFF Switch into the 'I' position
• To turn the soldering station 'OFF' , set the ON/OFF Switch into the '0' position
Note: The Soldering Iron Tip may emit smoke for a short while on first use. This is normal and is
the protective coating burning off the element. It is advisable to do this in a well-ventilated area
before regular use.
Using the soldering iron
1. Clean the Tip (5) and the workpiece before soldering (see 'Cleaning' section)
2. Plug the solder station into the mains power supply
3. Switch the solder station 'ON' , as instructed in the 'Switching ON and OFF' section
4. Set the Temperature Control Dial (2) to the required temperature –
I.Anticlockwise = decrease temperature
II.Clockwise = increase temperature
5. Wait a few minutes to allow the Tip to heat up
6. Check the heat by touching the damp Cleaning Sponge (8) with the Soldering Iron Tip. The iron
should make a singeing sound when pressed against the damp Pad
