Fuel Level Sensor Lock Ring Tool | BMW Mini
This tool is used for removal and installation of the screw retainer cap that secures
the fuel level sensor unit combined pump assembly to the fuel tank.
There are fuel level sensor units in the right and left hand sides; the procedure is
identical for both sides.

Instructions
1. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank.
2. Remove rear seat and | or fold back mat.
3. Unscrew nuts and remove metal cover to gain access.
4. Disconnect electrical plug connector.
5. If there is an external fuel hose, remove clamps and removes hoses.
6. Place the tool onto securing cap and using a ½" drive bar or ratchet handle,
unscrew the securing cap.
7. Raise sensor unit and remove lines and | or plugs from the unit. Take care not
to pull excessively or stretch fuel lines.
8. Carefully lift sensor unit out of tank catching any dripping fuel in a suitable
container.
9. Reitting is reverse of removal, always it a new rubber sealing gasket.
10. Some models have a lug on the sensor unit that engages with a recess on the
tank. Make sure that sensor unit its correctly with lug fully into recess.
11. Place tool onto securing cap and tighten to 35Nm.
