Cards Reading
The installation of your terminal is now completed. This chapter
explains how to use the different card readers.
§ Magnetic stripe card
Slide the card in the magnetic card reader with the magnetic
stripe facing the keypad of the hand-held unit. The card can be
read in both directions.
§ Smart card
Insert the card in the smart card reader next to the display, the
card chip facing the display.
§ Second Smart Cart reader
Insert the card inside the reader, which is placed at the back of
the terminal, the chip being placed toward the inside and the
lower part of the terminal.
Security
§ Do not open the terminal.
§ Contact your maintenance if the terminal displays "Key Corrupt"
or "Security Alter, call Maintenance".
In case of problem
In case of problem, proceed to the quick checks described in this
chapter.
§ Nothing appears on the display
- Check if the power supply is well connected to the wall socket
and to the docking station.
- Check if the contacts of the docking station and the hand-held
unit are clean.
- Verify that the battery pack is well connected to the hand-held
unit.
§ Authorization calls are not transmitted
- Check if the phone cable is well connected to the wall phone
plug and to the docking station.
- Verify that the phone line is not out of order.
- Verify that the terminal parameters correspond to your telephone
equipment.
§ No ticket is printed after a transaction
- Check that the paper is suitable for your terminal and well
positioned.
- Verify that the printer cover is correctly closed.
§ In the case of problem with the second smart card reader:
- Check that the smart card is well inserted inside the reader.
- Check that the optional smart card reader is well installed.
- Check the Sesam Vitale connection (see user's manual).
If the failure is not listed here, or if the problem is not solved after
these checks, call your maintenance centre.

EMV Level 1 approval
MagIC X1000 DECT has obtained EMV Level 1 approval.
To check whether EMVCO has approved this terminal, you can
refer to EMVCO web site (www.emvco.com) or to Axalto web site
(www.axalto.com).
Network compatibility declaration
§ Declaration following JOCE - L216/8 - Annex II:
This equipment is approved, in accordance with 98/482/CE of the
European Council, concerning pan-European connection of
terminal to the public telephone network PSTN.
However, as there are differences between countries, the PSTN
approval in itself does not constitute an absolute guarantee of
optimal operation at each point of termination of the PSTN
network. In the event of problem, contact your supplier.
