USER INSTRUCTIONS:
R23P2/5 - R23P2OD/5 - R23PF/10 - R23PFOD/10
Before using the ConceptAir powered respirator system it is essential that you read the instructions and ensure that the correct equipment has been
selected. Always be aware of the limitations of use of the equipment and that it is appropriate to the task. In addition to these instructions also refer to
the main instructions provided with the powered respirator and headpiece. You must always only use genuine ConceptAir filters, use of other filters
will invalidate any CE product approvals and warrantee and may mean that an inadequate level of protection is given.

Nuisance Odour Filters & Pre-filters
Nuisance Odour Filters
R23POD/5 filters offer the same level of protection and conform to the same standards as R23P/5 filters but in addition gives relief from nuisance level
odours.
Note: Theses filters should NOT be used against toxic levels of gas/vapour or where the gas/vapour level exceeds the Workplace Exposure
Limit.
Nuisance Odour Pre-filters
The nuisance odour pre-filter R23PFOD/10 may be used with the R23P/5 or R23POD/5 filters to give relief from nuisance level odours. The nuisance
odour pre-filter R23PFOD/10 can be used in conjunction with the R23POD/5 filter to give longer life.
Changing/Fitting Filters and Pre-filters
WARNING!
Care should be taken when handling filters. Do not touch the pleated filter medium.
Do not use filters after their expiry date. Filters are marked with an expiry of shelf life date, which is 3 years from date of manufacture for R23POD/5 and
5 years for all other filters. Do not open sealed bag containing the filter until you are ready to use it.
The outside surfaces of the power unit should be decontaminated before removing the main filter. The power unit should be positioned so that the filters
are facing downward, ensuring any trapped particulate material released by removing the filter does not fall into the filter port.
Pre-Filters (R23PF/10 & R23PFOD/10)
The Pre-filter is available as an optional item which sits in front of the main filter and removes coarse particles. The pre-filter should be changed
immediately if a drop in air flow is noticed or if the clogged filter alarm sounds. Pre-filters, in themselves, do not offer any respiratory protection and
hence must only be used in conjunction with a main filter. Frequent changing of the pre-filter will maximise the life of the main filter.
R23PF/10
To fit the pre-filter, open the front cover of the power unit by easing open the right side. Remove any existing pre-filter. Lay the pre-filter in the inside of
the front door, ensuring that it is central and swing the door closed on the hinge until it clicks in place. Ensure that you do not damage or dislodge the
main filter.
R23PFOD/10
To fit the pre-filter, open the front cover of the power unit by easing open the right side. Remove any existing pre-filter. Lay the pre-filter in the inside of
the front door, ensuring that it is central and that the vertical ribs in the inside of the door protrude though the slots in the top and bottom edges of the
pre-filter. Swing the door closed on the hinge until it clicks in place. Ensure that you do not damage or dislodge the main filter.
Main filters (R23P2/5 & R23P2OD/5)
If after changing the pre-filter, the clogged filter alarm indicates low flow within a short period of time, the main filter should be changed as detailed
below.
The outside surfaces of the power unit should be decontaminated before removing the main filter.
Open the front cover by easing open the right side. Check that the seal on the back of the new filter is not damaged and that there is no other damage
to the filter. Discard any damaged filters. The power unit should be positioned so that the filters are facing downward, ensuring any trapped particulate
material released by removing the filter does not fall into the filter port. Remove the old filter and discard. Fit the new filter squarely into the power unit and
swing the door closed on the hinge until it clicks in place.
Warning: Ensure that the door is fully and properly closed and the filter fitted in place before use.
Disposal
Contaminated filters and pre-filters should be disposed of in accordance with local Health & Safety Legislation.
Storage
All equipment should be stored in a clean dry atmosphere (R.H. < 90%) within the temperature range -5*C to +55*C in their original packaging. It should
be protected from direct sunlight and any material known to damage plastics, e.g. petrol and solvent vapours. Filters should be transported in their original
packaging.
