IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed,
including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS. All users must read and understand this instruction man-
ual before operating or cleaning this appliance.
2. The cord to this appliance should be plugged into a 120 V AC electrical outlet only.
3. Use with wall receptacle only.
4. Use on a heat-resistant, flat and level surface only.
CAUTION HOT SURFACES: This appliance generates heat during use. Follow these safety
precautions to prevent the risk of burns, fire or other damage to persons or property.
5. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use the handles to open, close and move the appliance.
6. To protect against risk of electric shock, do not immerse the cord, plug or cooking
unit in water or any other liquid.
7. This appliance should not be used by children.
8. Extreme caution must be exercised when any appliance is used near children.
9. Unplug from wall outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before
putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning or storing this appliance.
10. Never yank the cord to disconnect the Contact Grill from the outlet. Instead, grasp
the plug and pull to disconnect.
11. Do not operate any appliance if the cord or plug is damaged. Do not use this appli-
ance if the unit malfunctions, if it is dropped or has been damaged in any way. To
avoid electric shock, never repair the Contact Grill yourself. Bring it to a qualified
technician for repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment. An incorrect reassem-
bly increases risk of electric shock.
12. The use of accessories or attachments not recommended by the manufacturer may
cause fire, electrical shock or injury.
13. Do not use outside or for commercial purposes.
14. Do not let the electrical cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch
hot surfaces. The cord can get tangled or cause the appliance to fall, or can melt if it
touches hot surfaces.
15. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven, as it could
cause the exterior to melt.
16. Use extreme caution when moving any appliance containing hot food, water, oil or
other liquids.
17. Do not leave this appliance unattended during use.
18. The appliance will remain ON unless unplugged. Always unplug after use.
19. When in use, provide ventilation above and on all sides of the contact grill. Do not
allow the grill to touch curtains, wall coverings, clothing, dish towels or other flam-
mable materials during use.
20. Do not place unit directly under a cabinet when using; this may result in excessive
heat build-up.
21. Steam may be released between the cooking plates. Take caution to prevent hands
from coming in contact with the steam to prevent burns.
22. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
23. The appliance is only to be operated in the closed position.
