AXIS T86 Media Converter Switch Series
2. Mount the power supply and the media converter switch on the wall, or attach them to
a DIN rail in the cabinet. If drilling is required, make sure to use drill bits, screws, and
plugs that are appropriate for the material.
3. Loosen the screws and remove the cover from the media converter switch.
4. Push the end of the multicable through the cable gasket on the rear of the unit, and pull
it through far enough so that it will be easy to work with.
Important
If you need to shorten the supplied cable, follow steps 5–10. Otherwise, proceed to step 11.
5. Strip off about 45 mm (1.77 in) from the end of the multicable jacket.
6. Leave the braided shield intact, but fold it back so that it is about 20 mm (0.79 in) long.
7. Cut off 16 mm (0.63 in) from the Ethernet wire foil shields.
8. Strip off 8 mm (0.31 in) insulation from the four Ethernet wires (green, green/white,
orange and orange/white).
9. Strip off 8 mm (0.31 in) insulation from the two I/O wires (blue and yellow).
10. Strip off 5 mm (0.20 in) insulation from the three power wires (red, red and black).
Important
• After stripping the insulation, the power and Ethernet wires must be tinned to ensure
proper connections.
• The Ethernet wires must be of equal length, and should protrude approximately 25 mm
(1.0 in) from the end of the braided shield.
