PELTOR WORKSTYLE HEARING PROTECTOR RADIO HTRXS
is a high-attenuation hearing protector with a built-in high-sensitivity FM stereo radio receiver. The
interference-suppressed sound reproduction in stereo comes into its own in noisy environments. Hearing
protector radio HTRXS is specially developed to improve safety and motivation for wearers in noisy conditions.
It can also be used for activities such as mowing the lawn or other work when the wearer wants to listen to the
radio without outside interruption.
The Peltor Workstyle Hearing Protector Radio has been tested and approved in accordance with PPE directive
89/686/EEC and the EMC directive 89/336/EEC, which means that the requirements for CE marking have
been duly met. In order to get the best performance from your new purchase, it is important that you read
through the entire instructions
(A) WHAT IS WHAT?
1. Extra wide headband with soft padding for maximum comfort throughout the working day.
2. Low two-point attachment and simple height adjustment without protruding parts.
3. Individually sprung bands of stainless spring steel ensure uniform pressure around the ears. Retain their
tension better than plastic bands within a wide temperature range.
4. Soft and wide foam/fluid-filled sealing cups with built-in pressure-equalisation ducts for low contact
pressure, effective sealing and maximum comfort.
5. Protected controls for ON/OFF, volume and channel selection.
6. Extra-short flexible antenna with low attachment and high reception sensitivity.
7. Simple, stable channel adjustment. Frequency range 88-108 Mhz.
8. Volume limitation max. 82 dBA equivalent noise level.
9.Battery cover for simple battery replacement (two alkaline AA 1.5 volt batteries are included). 140 hour
operation with fresh batteries.
10.Audio input (certain models) permits connection of communication radio for monitoring. Note! See max.
9
permitted audio signal.
11.Microphone (certain models) permits dual-direction communication when connected to a communication
radio.
12.Connection cable (only with microphone) for connection to communication radio together with Peltor'
adapter system.
USER INSTRUCTIONS
Unscrew and remove the battery lid. Insert the two 1.5 volt batteries which are provided. Check that the + and
- terminals face the right direction.
Turn on the volume control and adjust the required channel with the channel knob on the right cup.

(B) Headband: (B:1) Pull out the cups and adjust the headset over the ears so that the sealing pads
completely surround the ears. (B:2) Adjust the height of both cups while holding down the band until you
have a comfortable fit. (B:3) The band should fit straight on top of your head.
(C) Helmet attachment: Fit the helmet attachment in the hard-hat slot until it clicks into place (see figure
C:1). During use, the wire bands must be pushed in until they click on both sides, from ventilation to opera-
ting position. Check that the cup and wire band do not chafe against the harness or hard-hat's edge when in
the operating position, otherwise this may cause noise penetration. Note! The cups can be set to three
positions: (C:2) Operational, (C:3) Ventilation and (C:4) Standby.
Important! For best protective effect, move away hair from around the ears so that the sealing cups fit tightly
on the head. Spectacle arms should be as thin as possible and fit close to the head.
IMPORTANT USER INFORMATION
The hearing protector radio must be switched on, adjusted, cleaned and maintained in accordance with
these instructions.
• Wear your hearing protector radio all the time when you are in a noisy environment so as to obtain maxi-
mum protective effect.
• Clean the outside of the hearing protector radio regularly with soap and lukewarm water. Do not immerse
in water.
• Do not store the hearing protector radio at temperatures above +55°C, for example behind a windscreen or
window.
• This product can be impaired by certain chemical substances. Further information can be obtained from
the manufacturer.
• Replace the batteries when interference in the receiver increases or when the volume gets weak.
• Inserting the battery with incorrect polarity may damage the receiver's electronics. Never replace the battery
while the unit is switched on. Before use, check that the battery is correctly inserted.
• The hearing protector radio and in particular the sealing cups may be impaired in time and should be
checked frequently to ensure that there are no cracks or noise penetration.
• Remove the batteries before storing!
Note! If these recommendations are not followed, both attenuation and function may be impaired.
ATTENUATION RATES
The attenuation rates for the Peltor Workstyle Hearing Protector Radio are tested and approved according to
PPE directive 89/686 EEC, and as per relevant sections of European standard EN 352-1:1993/pr EN 352-3.
Telephone receiver level for music is rated at max 80 dB(A) equivalent noise level as per the requirements in
the PPE directive.

(E) Input signal level/usage duration
Max. permitted audio signal in relation to usage duration. In order to avoid harmful sound receiver levels, the
29
stated input signals may not be exceeded. (Speech signal average level.)

(F) 100% WEAR TIME – THE ONLY ASSURANCE AGAINST HEARING INJURY.
(I:1) Wear time 100% Provides predicted protective effect.
(I:2) Wear time 99% 5 minutes carelessness per day reduces the protective effect dramatically.
(I:3) Wear time 90% You can no longer be sure of effective protection levels.
• Daily exposure to environments containing noise levels of over 85 dB, A-weighed sound level, means you
must protect your hearing.
• It is the hair cells deep inside the ear that become damaged and do not heal. The injury becomes perma-
nent.
• A comfortable and acceptable hearing protector, suited to the noise level of the specific work place provides
the best motivation for 100% wear time, and consequently the best protection against permanent injury.
