2. Important Information
Attention: Ignition voltage 5kV!
Installation by a qualified electrician only in accordance with international and national standards. (EN
60598-1, EN 61347-1, EN 61347-2-12, EN 55015, EN 61000-3-2, EN 61547)
The wiring between mains, electronic ballast and lamp must comply with the respective circuit diagram.
The electrical ballast must be earthed by earth conductor or function earth (protection class I, RFI/BCI).
Cables connecting the ballast with mains and cables between ballast and lamps must be installed free of
intersection, load capacitance and maximum clearance should be ensured (RFI protection).
Ballasts are designed for use with above mentioned lamps only. If used with different, not admissible
lamps there will be danger of explosion and fire!
When connecting the lamp the terminal of ballast marked 5KV must be connected with the lamp holder by
cable suitable for 5KV. Lamp holder must be suitable for same voltages.
For any service the system has to be disconnected from mains to avoid electric shock!
To install or change lamps mains has to be disconnected and the lamp must have cooled down.
Ballasts mounted outside of luminaries are to be screwed tightly to the respective surface by their screw
holes and careful attention has to be paid to the connecting cables and the lamp cables being fastened
securely by the strain relief.
Impulse-resistant leak-current protection must be installed and the correct dimensioning of automatic cut-
outs must be observed.
At tri-phase connection with electronic ballast the N-type conductor must be properly connected and must
never be disconnected individually or as the first element.
Electronic ballast must be protected against moisture and heat.

3. Important Information
The transient mains peak protection is in compliance with the standard. To protect the ballasts against
inductances the load circuits have to be clearly separated from others and eventually additionally been
protected by overvoltage filter. Inductances might be produced by switching fluorescent lamps and
discharge lamps with an inductive ballast or by motors (fans, etc.) and other inductive loads.
The ballast is not dimmable!
4. Safety Function
In case a lamp fails to ignite or a lamp operates with an increased voltage (end of lamp service life), the
electronic ballast will switch off after a defined period of time (<20 minutes). The ballast will also shut down
if the lamp fails to attain its specified rated output.
In case of secondary short circuit the ballast will automatically cut off. Short-circuits between the lamp
connection and the casing (earth conductor) will destroy the ballast. It does not have a conventional fuse.
Thus the load circuit is not separated!
Attention: Disconnect mains voltage before working on the lighting installation!!!
After repair connect mains again. The ballast will return to function automatically.
5. Excess Temperature
In case of excess temperature by external heat the ballast will be disconnected from mains by the built-in
temperature switch. The ballast will start again automatically once cooled down.
6. Heat Dissipation and Heat Transfer
Operation in excess of ambient temperature or by external heating will reduce the service life. Installation (
particularly into luminaries ) must provide sufficient heat dissipation ( heat transfer ). The ambient
temperature and/or the tc-temperature must not be exceeded at any time. We shall not be liable for
malfunction resulting from improper use.
