Vacuum function
The vacuum is activated via the 2nd level of the foot switch (or optional manual operation
desk). The built-in metal plate at the nozzle outlet is used to transfer additional heat to the
component and, during the de-soldering process, must lie flat on top of the component. As a
result of the fact that the nozzle plate rests flat on the component, the vacuum tube is sealed
and the vacuum required for lifting is created. In the case of components which are uneven,
where the nozzle plate is not sealed, rubber suction inserts can be used.
Warning: When hot gas and vacuum are operated at the same time, hot air is sucked
in through the hot gas bit. In this operating state, make sure that the vacuum is sealed
by a component (desoldering process) or that the vacuum hose has been pulled out
from the unit.
Inert gas
Inert gas reduces oxidation and the flux remains active for longer. We recommend nitrogen
(N2), which is obtainable commercially in steel cylinders. The cylinder must be equipped
with a 0 - 10 bar pressure reducer. In addition a compressed air tube with an external
diameter of 6mm is required.
Warning: When using inert gas ensure that the surrounding area is adequately
ventilated.
Replacing nozzles
The hot gas nozzles are fastened to the heating element by a locking screw. If suction inserts
are used, these are simply put into the vacuum tube and can be easily replaced.
External sensor
It is possible to regulate the temperature with an external sensor (e.g. directly on the
component). To do this the unit must be supplemented by the "external sensor" kit (not
supplied as standard).
5. Safety guidelines
The manufacturer accepts no liability for usage other than that specified in the operating
instructions, nor for any unauthorised modifications.
These operating instructions and the warning information they contain should be read carefully
and kept in a clearly visible place adjacent to the soldering unit. Failure to adhere to warning
instructions could cause accidents and injuries or prove detrimental to health.
The WELLER WHA 700 hot air station complies with the EC certificate of conformity in
accordance with the basic safety standards of EC guidelines 89/336/EEC, 73/23/EEC and
89/392/EEC.

8. WARNING NOTES
1. Keep your workplace tidy.
Always return the soldering equipment to its original holder, when it is not needed. Do not
place any combustible objects in the vicinity of the hot soldering equipment.
2. Please observe environmental influences.
Do not use the soldering equipment in moist or wet surroundings.
