- in case of works at a height, it is safer to combine INDY
EVO with a second safety rope fitted with a device
according to standard EN 12841 type A.
- the devices that remain installed in work sites must be
properly protected against weather.
Fig. 1 - INDY EVO components: A: Fixed side plate
in aluminium alloy - B: mobile side plate in aluminium
alloy - C: Lower drum in stainless steel - D: Upper drum
in stainless steel - E: Rope jamming cam in stainless
steel - F: Cam lever in aluminium alloy - G: Safety gate in
stainless steel - H: Static Rope Lanyard.
8.1 - How to Insert the Static Rope Lanyard / Rope
- Insert the Static Rope Lanyard between the drums (fig.
2),
- keep the lever open and insert the Static Rope Lanyard
between the cam and the upper drum (fig. 3),
- close the mobile side-plate and lock it with the connector
acting on the safety gate. Make sure that the locknut of
the connector is tightly closed (fig. 4).
8.2 – How to Use It
- With INDY put all your own weight on the flexible anchor
line. Keep the Static Rope Lanyard pulled downwards in
order to avoid the short initial sliding (fig. 5).
- Act on the lever to reach the desired descent speed. As
the lever is released (e.g.: in case of fainting) or when
it is pushed beyond halfway (e.g.: in case of fear) the
device blocks (fig. 6).
- if you want to hold the same position for a long time,
mount the safety loop (fig. 7).
Warning:
- during the descent the device gets heated up - use
gloves to protect your hands.
- excessive or dynamic loads may damage the
anchor line (Static Rope Lanyard/rope).
Examples of correct use:
- evacuation (fig. 8),
- descent with two users (fig. 9) - Important: secure
the person being lowered with a second rope, if
possible.
- climbing on rope (fig. 10).
9 - Pre And Post Use Controls
Make sure that the device is suitable for the intended use.
Before and after use check that:
- metal parts:
- show no sign of mechanical deformations,
- show no sign of cracks or wear,
- work perfectly - i.e.: the mobile slide-plate (B) can
rotate, the lever (F) actuates the lower drum (C) and
the jamming cam of the rope (E), the safety gate (G)
re-closes automatically when released.
- the Static Rope Lanyard (H) shows no sign of wear and
stitchings have no cut or loose threads.
10 – PRODUCt LIFE
In addition to point 5, please note that the product life
- of INDY EVO is equal to 10,000 m rope sliding (e.g.:
100 descents, 100 m each),
- of the Static Rope Lanyard is equal to 100 descents
irrespective of their length.
