4. Retract the Swing Guard (75) and withdraw the Saw
Blade through the Base (63).
5. Remove the Swing Guard Cotter (76), Guard Spring
Cotter (68) and Guard Spring (79).
6. Remove the Stationary Guard Cap Screws (72).
Tapping the inboard surface of the Stationary Guard
(64) with a soft hammer, dislodge the Guard from the
Motor Housing (1).
7. Remove the Tilt Sector Cap Screws (82 and 84).
Remove the Base from the Stationary Guard.
8. Using a No. R3H–26 Spanner Wrench inserted into
the two holes at the outboard end of the Arbor (40) to
prevent rotation, unscrew and remove the Arbor Lock
Screw (38) on the inboard end of the Arbor. Remove
the Arbor Lock Screw Washer (39).
9. Position a flat–faced 3/8" diameter (9.5 mm) by 6"
long (152.4 mm) brass rod on the inboard end of the
Arbor and using a hammer, drive the Arbor from the
Stationary Guard. The Rear Arbor Bearing (41),
Arbor Gear (43) and Arbor Gear Key (42) will fall off
the arbor shaft.
10. Using a No. R3H–26 Spanner Wrench, and turning
counterclockwise, remove the Arbor Bearing
Cap (45).
11. Lift off the Swing Guard Shim (77), Swing Guard and
Swing Guard Washer (78).
12. If the Front Arbor Bearing (44) needs to be replaced,
press it from the Stationary Guard. This is a light
press fit.
ASSEMBLY

General Instructions

1. Always press on the inner ring of a ball–type bearing
when installing the bearing on a shaft.
2. Always press on the outer ring of a ball–type bearing
when pressing the bearing into a bearing recess.
3. Whenever grasping a tool or part in a vise, always use
leather–covered or copper–covered vise jaws. Take
extra care not to damage threads or distort housings.
4. Except for bearings, always clean every part and wipe
every part with a thin film of oil before installation.
5. Check every bearing for roughness. If an open bearing
must be cleaned, wash it thoroughly in a clean,
suitable, cleaning solution and dry with a clean cloth.
Sealed or shielded bearings should not be cleaned.
Work grease into every open bearing before
installation.
6. Apply a film of o–ring lubricant to every O–ring
before installation.
7. Always press on the stamped end of a needle
bearing.
MAINTENANCE SECTION
Assembly of Throttle Handle
1. Grasp the Throttle Valve Stem (53) in copper–covered

valve when the Handle is in the locked position.
