If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the set for repair.
If you are unable to remedy a problem by following these hints, consult your dealer or service centre.
WARNING: Under no circumstances should you try to repair the set yourself, as this would invalidate the guarantee.

General
No sound
Set does not react to operation of any button, or
the CD display does not function properly
Radio
Poor radio reception
Cassette
Poor cassette sound quality
Recording does not work
CD
CD playback does not work
The CD skips tracks

TROUBLESHOOTING

Possible cause
VOLUME is not adjusted
Headphones are connected
Batteries are exhausted
Batteries are incorrectly inserted
Mains lead is not securely connected
Electrostatic discharge
Weak radio aerial signal
Interference caused by the vicinity of electrical
equipment like TVs, video recorders, computers,
thermostats, fluorescent lamps (TL), engines etc.
Dust and dirt on the heads, capstan or
pressure roller
Cassette tab(s) may be broken out
CD is damaged or dirty
CD is not or incorrectly inserted
Moisture condensation
PROG. or RANDOM is active
Remedy
Adjust the VOLUME
Disconnect headphones
Insert fresh batteries
Insert the batteries correctly
Connect the mains lead properly
Switch off the set, disconnect the mains plug,
reconnect after a few seconds.
Aim the aerial for best reception:
FM: incline and rotate telescopic aerial
or switch to mono reception
MW: rotate the entire set
Keep the radio away from electrical equipment
Clean the heads etc..

Apply a piece of adhesive tape over the missing
tab space
Replace or clean the CD
Insert a CD, label facing up
Leave the player in a warm place until the
moisture evaporates
Switch off PROG. or RANDOM play
